Don't need a squad when you _are_ the squad.

The comments on this video summed up:
"I act differently around different people, does that mean I have this"
"SPLIT!!!"
*Insert something completely unrelated to the video here*
"Isn't this schizophrenia"

Almost no real understanding or discussion of the topic.

To be honest I feel Blocko has multiple personalities...

Must be because of the animators.

thank you for an educational video of DID. i suffer from OSDD-1B, a subset of DID. for me personally, i do not experience amnesia, and it’s like being the backseat driver of a car when someone else fronts. heres some extra fun tidbits of DID and OSDD.

*OSDD stands for “other specified dissociative disorder”, previously known as DDNOS (dissociative disorder not otherwise specified)*

all these comments about LGBT people having it vs. straight people, is because *straight people are significantly less likely, most likely never will* be beat up, killed, threatened, or abused because of their sexuality. this disorder forms from trauma and abuse in an early childhood. if a boy says he likes other boys, and has homophobic parents, theres a chance they could put him through traumatizing situations. vs a boy saying he likes girls, hes not gonna be shunned or abused by his parents or family because of it.

something important to note, not all alters are human. alters can be pretty much anything.

another important note, DID can only develop from an *early* childhood trauma. the previous cut off age was about 5 or 6, but ive heard occasionally 9 years of age. as for the subsets, OSDD-1A and OSDD-1B, it’s a little different.

new alters can be created, or as we say, “split”, after a new trauma, old trauma, or stress. they are not “one” personality, and it’s pretty much like having roommates but the room is You.

alters can have roles. common roles are the “protector”, or an alter that in the case of DID, holds traumatic memories from the person or other alters, and in the case of OSDD-1B, where memories are not separate, protectors act as a shield or a built in therapist sort of. another common alter role is a persector, or a “mean” alter, usually formed in similar shape of an abuser.

the difference between Dissociative Identity Disorder and OSDD, is that DID has entirely separate alters. different memories and experiences and lives. OSDD is experience of alters, but not meeting entire criteria.

OSDD-1A is when alters aren’t fully formed entirely. they’re still close to the “host” but amnesia may still be present.

OSDD-1B is when alters are fully formed, but there is no amnesia. backseat driver.

the “headspace” is where alters “live.” sometimes therye there, sometimes theyre not. their “voices” are more just like... thoughts. some people actually hear them, but other times it’s just like separate thoughts from your own.

*edit: people with DID and OSDD do* not *enjoy moves like SPLIT or fight club, that repeatedly feed into the mentality that this disorder is the “evil” disorder, or is gonna lead someone with it to kill or hurt others.*

*big reminder: mentally ill people are more likely to be the victim of a crime then to commit them.*

hope these facts give some extra life to your video, and it’d be neat to see you do a video on OSDD!

My girlfriend has it; she hears their voices and not all are good and she splits often. Of course to her it's pure hell since you can't concentrate for too long on something and you're constantly anxious that the next minute your personality could disappear, leaving the place to another one. The example of the phone is perfect: only one can talk but the others can scream behind you and you can't stop them. She has no different memories and amnesias (for now) but sometimes she has very cloudy feelings and memories.
She had traumas as a child and during her whole life, plus her genealogical tree had episodes of this kind.
Indeed we even thought that it could've been because of this, since children usually behave how parents do and learn from it.

First rule of dissociative identity disorder, don't talk about dissociative identity disorder.

there's a lot of missleadig and out dated information in this (then again idk when it was made) and bringing up the sibil/ Sherly Mason is unnecessar, it was the 1950 when that happened and the world had changed alot and although there are always people who fake mental health problum they see (mostly teens I find ) that's no reason to dismiss a vary real dissorded and luckily the DSM recognizes it as valid. (sorry about spelling I'm disslexic)

Borderline personality disorder. Basically the opposite where we don’t have even one personality. Just little fragments that we copy from other people like small bits of pictures in a bag that can walk. 😂

Thank you so much for doing this. As someone with said disorder it is good to see a clear cut description of what we experience.
If you're curious about our experiences we will answer any questions (within reason of course.)

This... this sounds exactly like us!! I'm sooo happy that others have this too!! I know, I feel really bad for the poor woman who had 162. Yeah, and I thought just having two was hard enough! Thank you SO MUCH for helping us understand more about us and other like us!! Yup, we're very grateful! We'll have to show the psychiatrist this! Yeah, we have been very misunderstood. The mean psychiatrist thought we were 'hearing voices' and tried to make us have 'further testing', even though we told her again and again that we're just parts of the same person with different names and personalities!! This has filled us with so much hope!

Thank you for this. My mother has this, and so does my friend (two separate people). It is caused by childhood trauma, and both have losses of certain memories and stuff. My mum isnt as severe as when she was 16-18 years old, and my friend is very severe. She is physically 17. She has hundreds of alters who come out at different times. Thank you for shedding light onto this misunderstood mental health disorder.

As one of the few who was actually diagnosed with DID, I can say that this is very true and one of the most accurate things I've ever seen related to this disorder, thank you for offering legitimate information.

i remember from about age 2- 8 every night before i went to sleep, i'd always hear at last 3 or 4 people whispering to me, but i thought that was normal. i ended up growing out of it
