John was a truly great man. He was from my home town and got my dad into training while they were teenagers in school together. Many years later, in 2016 at the Arnold, my dad and I came to see him compete. We ran into him as he was leaving with his wife and remembered my dad and was happy to talk with us and take pictures despite being exhausted from the show. Such and exemplary human being. I'm heartbroken for his family and simultaneously thankful for all John provided to the world in his time here with us.

Never had a “celebrity” death hit me like this. This void will never be filled in the fitness community. It’s incredibly hard seeing that he is leaving behind two children as he grew up without a father.

Hi Leo, I also knew John. I was introduced to him through my friend, Brad Schoenfeld. John helped me in many ways turn Pro. He did it out of the kindness of his heart. I offered to pay him for his advice and coaching but he wouldn't take a dime. I had a similar emailing relationship with him as well, as recent as 2 weeks ago where we were talking about his health. I found out that he passed through Brad and we are all devastated as John was a grounding force in a field where there is mostly Chaos. Keep doing what you are doing. Now that John is no longer with us, its up to people like you to spread good information for the betterment of people who just don't know any better.

John did more for the fitness community than any man I can think of. He has helped many beginners start training and has helped olympians place in the top 1-5 spots. He always seemed to have a level head and a kind heart.

I met John at the Toronto Pro expo, his booth wasn’t insanely busy which gave me an opportunity to have a great conversation with him. John truly was a great man, we lost a good one.

The way you view your outlook on life and death is very eye opening, I very much agree with your point of view that a man as influential as John Meadows, to all the positivity that their existence has brought, indirectly is pushing other people to be positive themselves and to keep doing good. His being a role-model to so many will still keep producing positive things in this universe whether he was alive, or whether he has passed, and that is how you know that Meadows legacy will never die, and he will always live on within our hearts and souls forever.

The loss of John Meadows is a tragedy for his family, and for the community. A great man and a great example of how to be a role model, condolences to all those who knew him

RIP John Meadows. A truly classy individual. Regarding Victor Black, he also went after Derek too by posting a series of questions Derek had asked him a couple of years ago in an attempt to push himself as Mr. PED. Such a cheap shot reeking of jealousy, when Derek had already made it known he’s often deferred to others like Black, who he considered more knowledgeable than himself on certain topic subjects, especially at that time. No one can possibly know it all, despite what claims this Victor character makes.

I’ve had a couple interactions with John over the years and he’s ALWAYS taken the time to reply. Like Leo said he’s very open minded and ready to discuss things. One thing that I admire greatly about John is instead of firing back and arguing with someone with a different opinion or thought process he is able to sit down and have a civil conversion and be open to learning something new or being able to educate that person in a productive manner. This is something I really want to emulate going forward. John was a true gem and I feel deeply for his wife and two sons. Rest In Peace John.

I have seen his group discussions and some of his videos. He came across as very humble down to earth and a person with a very good heart. These days there are very few we can say these things about. Everyone seems to be so full of himself/herself after a little bit of success. Striking was the fact that he never had a bad thing to say about anyone and he truly lived bodybuilding. Everyone would eventually die. I would want to be remembered a more as man of integrity and compassion, like John, than a rich ass. RIP John.
