As a clarinet player, the fact that all of us in our school band got to practically solo this with our guest soprano sax player along with the bits and chunks the other played with us in our Christmas concert makes this one of my favorites.

It actually has lyrics.

Whispers in a dream
The world is quiet and waiting
And all around the air is still
And sings the angels

When all is come to pass
The storm has breathed it's last
And the rain
Has washed our fears away
Love will find

Whispers in the wind
The clouds part to let the light in
And all around the people sigh
As birds take to the sky

When all is come to pass
The storm has breathed it's last
And the rain
Has washed our fears away
Love will fall on us all
The world will smile again

Whispers in a dream
The world is quiet and waiting
And all around the air is still
Then sings the angels

When all is come to pass
The storm has breathed it's last
And the rain
Has washed our fears away
Love will fall on us all
And we can smile again

I want to play this in band (I’m an oboeist). It’s a shame that we have an incredibly flute heavy band, so I think it wouldn’t sound so good 😞

I play percussion but we have flute parts because the flute and marimba are basically the same and I play this at my spring concert tomorrow on April 25th

I do the solo on the clarinet, our orchestra doesn't have an oboe ❤

I absolutely dislike the fact that: a) the piece has been transposed from D to Bb, b) the solo lines have been "dumbed down" - no quintuplets or other freely expressible rhythms, only straight sixteenths or eighths, and c) the arranger decided to end the piece in a tutti chord. It's so frustrating. Just about every arrangement for mid-level wind band. It all feels sooo dumbed down - "by god, please no sharps, triplets are the oddest rhythms we can offer, and let's make sure everyone is constantly playing". It's about everything that is wrong with modern day easily digestible wind band arrangements. And I hate it so much.
