Most of us didn't take video's and pictures like nowadays when we were kids. It was like this all the time, nothing unusual. 1969-1970 was one of the biggest swells that got our attention. 50'-70' and bigger waves were common. For the first time in memory, the Haleiwa Boat Harbor took a big hit. It was after that they built the outside breaker wall for protection. A large wave crossed over Kam Hwy and nailed Jerry's sweat shop. Our uncle stopped at Jerry's for their 5/$1.00 hamburgers and while in Jerry's his 1965 Ford mustang was washed away, never to drive again. No pictures were taken.
