Roland Juno-106 Analog Synthesizer (1984) – All the Best Sounds

The Juno-106 is a polyphonic synthesizer with six voices.
It is an analog synthesizer but with digitally controlled oscillators and chorus effects.
Whereas its predecessor, the Juno-60, has 56 patches, the Juno-106 has 128.
It introduced Roland's performance lever for pitch bends and modulation, which became a standard feature of Roland instruments.
It also adds MIDI and was one of the first analog synthesizers to allow users to sequence parameter changes.

I owned mine for about five years, and then ended up selling it. It always sounded underwhelming when the chorus was not engaged, and with the chorus everything I tried making on it sounded similar. For what it is, it’s good, but as far as versatility goes you’re much better off with the JX-3P.

Last spring one of my coworkers GAVE me his Juno-106. It was playing well at first, but about two weeks ago I powered it up, and all of the patches sound pretty much the same now, and quite muffled. No idea what's going on.

Sorry to have to say it Andy but it's the most over rated Roland synth of all time in my opinion. It never did sound that good and has a tendency to blow voice chips regularly. Stick with the much superior sounding Juno 60 or use the stupidly tiny Roland Boutique JU-06A Sound Module for your midi requirements. If Roland had they made their Boutique series as proper desk size modules with full size sliders and knobs then they'd have been onto an absolute winner. Instead they blew it with the ridiculous toy-like format. The Boutiques do sound great though!
