Story time! For context, I’ve been listening to Periphery since like 2007 and I’ve always been a huge fan and almost went on tour with them before they blew up lol One of the coolest nights of my life was here in FL when me and my cousin went to a show in Tampa in 2019. Drove back to Orlando after the show where I lived in an apartment building downtown super late.

We get back into town and my cousin drops me off in front of my building. I realized I left my keycard to get in the building inside my apartment and it’s 2:00am. I call my wife to see if she can let me in to no avail. Then I see a group of people going into my apartment building and I run up to them and explain the situation and ask if I can just follow them into the building so I can get to my apt. I cut myself off halfway through the explanation because I see a dude holding two 18 cases of Miller Light going in with them and I’m like “holy shit, Spencer Sotelo????” (Periphery’s vocalist)

and he’s surprised that someone recognized him at a random apt building in Orlando and I kinda explain that I’m a huge fan and his vocals inspired a lot of my own, etc etc and wtf is he doing here?

He came down to Orlando on vacation to hit up the theme parks with some friends and the friend he’s staying with lives 6 apartments down from me.

Then he says “dude hell yeah, that’s awesome. Hey we’re going to hang out in the billiard room on the first floor to play pool and get wasted. Do you want to join us?”

I didn’t get back to my apartment until 4:00 pm the next day. Easily the coolest musician I’ve ever met.

The most painful thing about this song is the fact that it's about Spencer's sister who passed away.

A really powerful song about Spencer processing, and trying to move forward following his sister's death even though its extremely painful for him. The line at 5:24 where he sings "its on my chest, and you're in this art" is a line about his writing process and how it heals some of the pain. Writing this song for his sister is a way for him to process the pain and get it out into the world.

Also, they recently releaased the acoustic version which is also really enjoyable. These guys have quite the diverse portfolio, some extremely heavy stuff, some more melodic stuff like this song. There is a lot to go through. For other more melodic stuff like "Its Only Smiles", check out "Lune", "Garden In The Bones", "Absolomb", "Flatline", "Wax Wings".... Theres some I am missing for sure. Enjoy! Loved the reaction btw. :)

This song always made me tear up and i never knew why. Reading the comments, it all makes sense. Anyone can relate in their own way, but knowing the true meaning, everything truly comes together.

Well, I guess I made a good pick this month! Periphery definitely has their big songs like Reptile, but this one holds a special place in my heart. Fair warning, they only get heavier from here.

You don’t have to show it but watch the Satellites drum play though. He is so happy playing it and when I’m down it’s my go to. Just for smiles 😊

This song always hits different for me because my sister passed two months after this album dropped. I love it but I'll never get over it.

Lol I knew you gals would eventually end up here with Periphery. Been a fan of them for 10 years or so. They have some great songs. Enjoy! The Djentyness

My first exposure to Periphery was through their video for "Make Total Destroy". Its absolutely incredible and the video is crazy and fun to watch. His vocal range and capabilities are fucking insane.

However, my FAVORITE song from them at this point is Satellites. Its truly a masterpiece! Now I sit and wait as patiently as possible for Make Total Destroy, Reptile, and especially Satellites!

My all time favorite band. Their level of versatility and genre bending are perfect imo. Not to mention the band has some of the best musicians in the industry in it. I recommend you guys listen to Wax Wings next from them. It's very much like this song, but honestly better imo. It's got the bounciness, feel good vibes, and honestly one of the most powerful performances from the vocalist I've heard in this band so far. I think you guys would be sold on this band after hearing it. I will warn, they can be a very heavy band as well, which is why I recommend Wax Wings next. If you guys can hear their softer sides, I think you will appreciate their heavier sides later. Beyond glad you enjoyed this and I'm happy you chose this as your introduction to Periphery.

They put a happy tone on it for sure…the singer, Spencer, did make this song about his sister who passed away :/ but the song makes me happy too so you’re good 😂
