There’s something about how tender and gentle this song sounds that just makes me want to cry. It’s pretty incredible.

Five For Fighting is criminally underrated. One of the best musicians in the 21st century - melodic masterpieces full of meaning

"You are now listening to the In-Store Audio Network. We have millions of songs but only play 10 on loop for the entirety of your shift."

My dad played this song all the time when I was younger (I’m 13) and I always start thinking about him when I listen to this. Makes me want to cry. My dad is alive and doing ok, but I don’t see him as much as I used to and I miss him a lot.

Time fascinates me. This song makes me wish there was a machine that teleport people to the best eras of their lives and just stay there for as long as they wish. I feel we all don't have to be in 2019.

This is one of the best songs in so many years I can't even imagine. This is my childhood in words and music,

You know, John Ondrasik is what I want a singer to be like, I don't know how to say it but I guess we likeminded people here appreciate how different he is from others in the musical sphere

This beautiful song is about my growing up. If you weren't part of this time, maybe it doesn't mean so much. This is truly the way people were, real is the word. We lived, by living! It feels like no one who isn't from this time can quite grasp it, or the feeling we have about it. Thank-you John, this means so much to me.

This was the first song I ever heard from this band. I remember hearing it on the radio and wanting to find it so I could listen to it over and over again. I love this song

This song just left me sobbing.

"How can you be as nice as me
You're not from the same slice as me
Where do we go from here my friend
Is this the way our story ends"

These words were practically prophetic.

"Can you imagine that slice of time, rock 'n roll was young, people stood in line..."

Gives me chills every time.

I would all the time hear this in my grocery store employer lol. Sometimes twice if I was there long enough, "clerk to seafood immediately" lol

This song's great. Driving around on a sunny day with the window's down and playing this is just perfect.

I was in High School in the San Francisco Bay Area 1969-1973. Music was about the musicians playing music. There weren't dancers, flashing lights, fireworks at the concerts, just the musicians. People were employed. The population of the U.S. was 207 million. Immigration was at low levels. The Vietnam War was in its final years. Don Mclean wrote the song "American Pie" in 1971.

+Japhet Bisheko  This is not racist at all. The slices represent periods of time within America, not separate countries. When he says "How can you be as nice as me, you're not from the same slice as me", he is REALIZING that people from all times can be as awesome as him, and his "slice" is no longer seen as special. Thus, he wants a song about a time when he and his peers were "more than just a slice of American pie"
