This is exciting for me. I’ve never been interested in fiddling with mirrorless cameras and lenses etc. I wanted a plug and play. This gives me hope that I can start shooting videos in 4K and expanding my options for editing.

ive been watching this channel for years. this has to be one of the 2 biggest leaps in tech ive seen you talk about. absolutely insane. this and the quality of USB mics (elgato being the first)

Hey Harris, now that you’ve gone full in on YouTube and with 4K webcams now existing I was hoping you would make a updated video on streaming and recording on OBS for YouTube content creators in 2023 or maybe even what your full setup is right now. Love the content and you’ve helped me a lot on my main channel, especially when I use to stream on twitch 👍🏻

My jaw dropped when you revealed that you were actually using the webcam to shoot the video. I never would've expected to see quality like this from a webcam.

You can tell it's a Sony sensor from the red tinge in the shadows 6:48 :P

Although I trust your content and the opinions in this video fully, I think it is worth mentioning that Corsair is the parent company of Elgato, and Elgato is the parent company of Visuals By Impulse who is sponsoring your video. Seems deceptive to make such a big deal about VBI being unassociated with the product when they have a vested interest in its success at least on some level. I believe this was just an oversight though.

Can you do a comparison between the Elgato Facecam pro VS the Insta360 link? Like a pros and cons for both? (they're both 299.00 in cost) Comparison with the software as well

The best thing about this, is that it sets a new quality standar for the whole webcams industry. Now the other brands would be forced to catch up in terms of quality and then more a competitive price. Nice!

I like the way Insta360 Link looks more. Plus Insta360 has the 3-axis gimbal so you keep your full resolution when moving the camera rather than having to punch in digitally.

About two years ago, I was looking to step up from the venerable Logitech C920, and bought a Mokose UC-70 camera. Although marketed as an "industrial" camera, it's a standard USB UVC camera (no bundled software) and, as such, works out of the box on any computer. It also has a large 1/1.8" sensor (my copy contains an Omnivision OS08A10) that captures 4K/30p, and does pretty well in my dimly-lit office.

Unfortunately, the camera has some quirks which make it less than ideal for your average streamer. For example, the lens is fully manual -- no auto-focus or -exposure. You have to reach over and twist the focus and iris rings by hand. Like most "industrial" cameras, it takes interchangeable C-mount lenses. This is the lens mount used on old 16mm movie cameras, which means you can pick from a vast selection of used lenses going back 70+ years, if you're into that.

The camera's firmware also has some quirks. For example, it reports a microphone input, when in fact there is no microphone, nor is there a connection for one. And although the sensor itself claims it can capture 4K/60p, the firmware doesn't support it.

Still, it's met my needs so far. So if you're willing to deal with it's quirks, you can get the whole thing for well under $200, lens included.

This is gonna be a huge upgrade from my $35 webcam that I use to show things on my desk if I ever can get one. Though, I realized this entire video, we never really see you show the physical item on your hand, only on thumbnail as far as I can remember. Maybe it's just me.

I've done content showing that a secondhand Sony A5000 (with a quick software trick) and a secondhand Sony 16mm F2.8 lens with a dummy battery and capture card could all be had under $300. If the 4k isn't a selling point to someone, I'd say this is the way to go in the $200-$300 price bracket instead of a webcam. Big 1080p quality difference, as you showed, for same to less money. Interchangable lens mirrorless camera setup for under $300. Hard to beat. Unless the 4k is needed, I'd say seeking out the under $300 A5000 combo is worth the little bit of work to utilize it. Though it is safe to say, this is probably the best looking webcam yet. But the best sure comes at a cost.

I was going to get the normal facecam but now, thanks to you, I’m gonna get this one.

Just a heads up, PTZ stands for Pan Tilt Zoom, it can Pan (left to right) Tilt (Up and own) and Zoom (using moving lens elements).

Not gonna lie, the footage of you in the "main area" (starting @ 6:08) looks like you are in front of a green screen. It is pretty crazy

I started using my iPhone 13 pro max as a web cam on Mac OS Ventura and its crazy good. You can even use it in OBS and still use the portrait function that blurs the background. It almost looks as good as my mirrorless Sony. The only thing I dont know is what resolution it is. It won't tell you and there is no settings but it is super clear. It also enhances when it get dark in the room so I think it's using the lowlight features like f1.4 If you guys have a iPhone check it out. I am not sure what version iPhones this all works on. I just tried the 13 for now.
