i got one a few months back, to use only with an alcohol stove. i took the full tab tray out, and tried a few of my alcohol stoves, then made a bespoke lower fancy feast type stove. it all works together not too bad.

I drilled out the fuel tab tray to use with a penny can stove. Seems to work ok. If you want to use the solid fuel tabs, a short flathead bolt topside and a wingnut underneath will secure the tray again. Another way to speed up a boil time is to use a windscreen. I made one from the side of about one and a half soda cans just high enough to fit into the cook pot for storage. It can also be used as a twig stove by removing the tray. An aluminium circular piece a few layers thick on the ground underneath acts as a fire shield. So far burning wood has not melted the plastic legs.Esbit stoves are well made, but do need some modifications to get the best from them. These are some ideas I came up with.
