I first bumped onto this stag in the forest and could not quite have a good look. I saw me and walked away. The second time he was on the clearing with the hinds but again not much time to have a good look at him. However, I figured out where they stay during the day, so had a plan where to wait for them in the evening. And so they came out, I was prepared, but then decided although the stag was a shooter, it would have been shame to take such a young promising animal...

Pierwszy raz podszedłem tego 10-taka jak ryczał z lesie. Niestety miałem go za krzakami i nie udało mi się zobaczyć sylwetki. Drugi raz był na łące z łaniami i też wszystko w biegu przez zarośla. Jednak udało mi się wypatrzeć gdzie chmara zaległa, tak że wiedziałem gdzie na nie zaczekać wieczorem.
No i wyszły tak jak sobie wymyśliłem, byłem przygotowany i mogłem strzelać... ale szkoda mi się zrobiło tego byka. Według nowych kryteriów byłby dobry (ledwie co...), ale rok temu nie. Ładny 10tak, ale w sumie nic szczególnego i za parę lat mógłby być o wiele ciekawszy (jak dożyje...) więc odpuściłem.

I really like your videos. Your productions are beautifully, sensitively and artistically done. Your stalking is always ethical and you take so much time to ensure a humane end to the animal. SO GLAD YOU LET THIS MAJESTIC YOUNG STAG GO. His presence fills the forest with light. Let him be until he's old and then if a shot is more humane than letting him live and perhaps suffer, take him then. That is the dilemma of hunters; when we're finally to come across such a magnificent animal, to shoot him or not to - such a difficult decision. Congratulations for making such a sound decision on this occasion. Thank you for sharing your wonderful hunting experiences with us.
