TIE Fighters were mentioned in a radio call during episode IV. "Pick up your visual scanning! TIE Fighters coming in!"
Ackbar was mentioned by name in ROTJ. "Admiral Ackbar please."

I specifically remember in the credits seeing the name "Emperor Palpatine". He may not have been mentioned in film, but the name was there in the credits. I'm 99% sure of it.
