Exclusive Access to the Vatican Museums

After being closed for nearly 3 months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Vatican Museums finally reopened June 3, 2020, and Darius was 1 of just 10 people invited by the Musei Vaticani to explore on May 30 and share the experience of the new itinerary. It is an extraordinary moment to explore the museums with few visitors. Join Darius for a look at some of the most famous spots like the Raphael rooms, Gallery of Tapestries, Hall of Maps, Sistine Chapel (yes, he was given permission to film inside!) and the Laocoon statue. His visit also includes "new" gems normally closed to the public, like Bramante's early 16C staircase and the apse terrace about the "Nicchione" overlooking the Belvedere courtyard that gives you one of the most spectacular views of Rome! Was there a few days ago. Just spent about 6 hours inside. LOL. Amazing. You are very lucky to get access to film the Sistine Chapel, photos and videos were not allowed when I went.

Thank you so much for this video !! 😘😘I’m too old to go back to Italy, but I was there in 1969 and again in 1975. We were NOT allowed to take photos in the Sistine Chapel or museum in general bc the millions of flash bulb flashes would deteriorate the objects.

The Eternal City has its issues. Garbage, graffiti and apartment blocks but at times the magic of the ancient and the neighborhoods brings you to tears.
Hopefully we will get back this year.

When I was in the Sistine Chapel last September the natural light was not there. It was sunny outside and dark inside.. too dark to see the color showing in this video. I was very disappointed. Is natural light rarely allowed? I will not go again if natural light is missing.
