it's not unnatural for kidnappers to make their hostages perform in social media, in fact it's quite logical. because being able to be active on social media means people are able to reach you, see you; but not touch you. therefore, it creates a false impression that the content creator you are viewing is in fact safe and living via regular and healthy means.

I can't remember the exact details but i remember watching a true crime documentary about a little girl who was kidnapped and forced to disguise herself and record videos with her kidnapper guiding her on what to do and say. This lasted a few years until a viewer noticed she looks like the girl who was kidnapped, so the viewer commented and told her that if she was in danger, she should wear a pink dress... and obviously she did. The police got called to where they were recording from and broke in, but the girl wasnt there (i cant remember if they found her dead in the closet/ floor or if her kidnapper escaped with her)
