Workflow Enhancements | New Features in Cubase 10.5

There are a number of new features in Cubase 10.5 designed to enhance your Cubase workflow. The dialog to add track in Cubase now includes all track types, including global tracks. There are a range of new key commands and improvements to creating macros. Workflow in Cubase is also improved by the ability to decouple the zoom and cycle mode in Cubase, as well as the ability to manually activate project you want to work with when you have multiple projects open. One of the biggest workflow improvements in Cubase 10.5 is making retrospective record more flexible, including dedicated icons with the transport functions, retrospective recording within the MIDI editor and independent retrospective record for different tracks in both linear and cycle mode in Cubase. Another of the improvements in Cubase 10.5 is, when migrating data from one project to another, you can now import all track types and there are a lot more options regarding what is copied and the destination.

Finally no more unintended activated projects. So much time of life lost to waiting for the wrong project to load, when closing things down, especially bad of large projects... No matter how much we try to avoid it it always catches you out.

The macros! All of the changes I've been swearing at but now it's here!!!
Retrospective mode .... that's kinda cool! Cubase ... the DAW you don't even need to record in to have music!!! :D
Import is a massive improvement!!

The combined selection tool could be worse the price of the update alone - has the potential to speed up audio editing immensely. Let’s see.
Several other nice additions and changes. The new import tracks was overdue.
The safe mode I gotta say isn’t really thought out. It doesn’t help me at all finding the plugin that maybe hangs or crashes on project load (has that annoying case just recently). Two very simple solutions for a safe mode would be:
1. For every third party plugin that’s to be loaded in a project display a dialog with the plugin name and ask me wether to load it. If I click “yes” and it crashes, I now know which plugin it is and can disable it.
2. Write to a dedicated log file which plugin is going to be loaded next. In case of a crash or hang, the last line in that log file shows the culprit.
There. That wasn’t to hard, was it? Could save us all hours of experimenting...

0:33 Case an point I just found three other wonderful and as far as I can find undocumented new key command which I have been wanting since Cubase SX 1. Under Edit> Key Commands>Tools> there is now Object Selection Tool: Normal Sizing, Sizing Applies Time Stretch & Sizing Moves Content. I had silly macros that would go to third tool (to make Nuendo compatible) and back two tools to always get to Normal Sizing since there is no lock on that function like Pro Tools added with version 8.

Worth a mention is that this is NOT a free update from 10.0.50, you will need to pay for an upgrade which considering the small improvements, may not be of any great advantage to you. Consider this carefully before upgrading as it may be worth waiting for the next major release. Upgrade fee in the case of Artist is £42.00 as an upgrade from version 10.00 Artist, Pro version older editions will be more. See their site for available upgrade path and appropriate fees.

This is great, but if I can import any track archive and KEEP the original organization and colors of tracks (including THOSE ORIG TRACKS WITHIN ORIG FOLDER TRACKS) that would be so useful. Thank you!

In the 9.5 version of Cubase, the track I chose was gray, but from the 10th I want to know if I can change it to gray.

Is there any videos out there showing how to fix bugs and reinstall etc... Lets say i install 10.5 and there a bunch of small bugs that make it pretty much unusable. My other laptop doesn't have the same bugs bug does have some. Is there a way to reinstall or kind of reset the settings?
