“Home now for warm milk”

Aunt Lydia is so iconic.

If Lydia is a secret May Day spy, this could her way of telling the Handmaids "Hey, if your Commanders are messing with you, let me know and I'll take care of it"

I actually really like this because Lydia is returning to her roots as a judge. I still think she's in the wrong but still.

More telling than anything was Aunt Lydia's silence when Janine made her comment. One would have expected her to berate Janine for wanting to witness violence or some such.

Aunt Lydia is slowly starting to on Gilead. For all her bad qualities I think she does care about “her girls” in her own twisted way. Yes, she’s complicit in what’s happening to them and has a violent streak. But even she has standards and what happened to Esther is too far even for her.

And she has a soft spot for Janine. I think without Lydia they’d have sent her back to the colonies or killed her by now. She’s had too many “strikes, ” but Lydia is vouching for her.

I think she may try to get Janine assigned to be an Aunt and be her assistant. I think she knows Janine is gonna fully lose her mind if she gets assigned again.

In the sequel book, Hannah is in Aunt school, I do wonder if maybe Lydia and Lawrence won’t be able to get her out but they’ll arrange that instead. Becoming an Aunt is arguably the best fate she can hope for in Gilead.

You are still not redeemed as a fictional character/person and probably never will completely be in my eyes. But...for once, we are both agreed on something Aunt Lydia.

Justice was served, and how! Like, Commander Nick's hands were lightning upon his gun. Hot diggity damn. Still, it will take the fall of Gilead for justice to be served in its' entirety.

I have a feeling Jeanine is going to become an aunt.

Putnam got off easy. He was only executed because Esther was not assigned to him when he raped her.
Nick and Commander Lawrence both referred to what the disgusting creature did as "Sins of the flesh- the rape of unassigned property". Poor Esther is still left to carry and bear the child as well as the trauma of the attack .
It's justice because he's never going to rape another handmaid again. He didn't learn from losing an arm, maybe the message got through his head along with Nick's bullet!!

On the road to redemption, I can't wait for her to be reminded by June, that Lydia had those handmaids killed for escaping.

'He took advantage of his position' interesting, Aunt Lydia, because that sounds like somebody we know..

AL is so fundamentally twisted. Epic acting.

The U.S. doesn't realize how close it is to becoming Gilead. This next election is going to decide if the U.S. continues to be a Constitutional Republic democracy or not. Vote Blue to make sure it does.

The most depressing series ever aired.

"Take a long look girls but don't look up until an imaginary camera passes each of you in turn. There's no reason you would ever do this but trust me it will look dramatic for someone somewhere."

Aunt Lydia is redeemable. She was a nasty enforcer of an evil system, but she is the walking example of those who Christ forgives because "they know not what they do."

Christ's grace is sufficient for all whose hearts truly thirst for righteousness. It doesn't matter how misguided you are. At least she is not a hypocrite and she seemed to genuinely care about the handmaids, albeit, in a sick way.

I hope she answers for her cruelty, but I also wish good things for the character and fully support a redemption arc.

Fred and commander Putnam can burn in Hell, though.

Ann Dowd is such a great actress. She earned that Emmy.

Anyone else annoyed he only got shot in the head and not torn apart by the Handmaids like they did in the first season?
