the 'don't sit too close to the tv or you'll go blind' thing does have truth behind it but that truth is back when crt televisions where just coming out.
same thing isn't even true for the later models of crt tv, by the time crt tvs where being fazed out in favor of LED and OLED that problem was far far gone.
