The lore of the Half Life series. All three protagonists of the first game had their own respective protective armor. Freeman with the HEV suit, Calhoun with his security guard vest, and Shepherd with the PCV armor. What mattered most was being protected against what they all saw happened that day at Black Mesa. Nostalgia. 👌😎

As someone who loves the aesthetic of the HECU and gasmasks, I cannot IMAGINE the level of suffering these guys are going through wearing combat vests with extra weight and a gasmask in New Mexico weather. Sprinting around and stuff too.

If I thought that it was the scientists fault for making me be there, that alone might make me trigger happy, forget all of the hostile aliens.

Tbh the PCV is just the Defense Ministry looks at what blackmesa made (the H.E.V) and say "make it available for the Military".

I love how the PCV is compatible with the HEV charging ports, it shows that they're based on the same technology and it really highlights that Black Mesa was a military contractor, my interpretation of this lore would be that HEV was developed first to help Black Mesa scientists to stay protected, but the tech was adapted to the PCV and sold to the US military, so in an ironic twist some tech developed by Black Mesa was used against them (and since Black Mesa also has stuff like a whole ass missile warehouse, who knows what other tech the HECU were using was developed there)

Nothing against the HEV suit. But the PCV seems more functional ajd more practical overall. I feel as thoufh it would be more light weight, unlike a heavy suit that requires battery cells to also doesn't come with its helmet °~°
