Continuing with verbs today. This is part 1 of my "Learning Finnish Type 3 Verbs" Series!😊

This video kick starts the so called 'Type 3 verbs/Verbityyppi 3' in Finnish. I will first explain what types of verbs belong to the verb type 3 category and then I will be going over the verb conjugations for when you are talking about yourself, so "Minä/Mä __(verb type 3)__".
Following videos will go over the rest of the pronouns!

A summary:
● Verbs belonging to verbityyppi 3 end in: -lla/-llä, -sta/-stä, -nna/-nnä, -ra/-rä
● To talk about yourself using the minä form, remove the LAST 2 letters of the verb, add -e and add the minä marker -n
● I didn't show an example in this video, but consonant gradation CAN happen. So don't be too shocked if you come across this when practicing (more on this in another video)

More videos on the topic:

Moi Katja! I'm an English professor in the US, and I just want to say that you are an excellent teacher (no matter if your fields of study were psychology and neuroscience, not linguistics--you're great at this too). I've only recently come upon your channel, but I have been catching up quickly. Your warm, approachable, funny and practical videos have been very helpful to me. Finnish is so very different from any of the other languages I've studied over the years, so I can use all the help I can find, and this channel provides lots of it. Kiitos paljon!

When I saw "nous" I immediately thought of the French word for "us". Sometimes, knowing another language can cause confusion as you have to re-translate the word. For instance, "gift" in English means "present" (like a birthday present) but in German it means "poison".
For me, Finnish is a tongue-twister language. Some Finnish words like "yö" is a sound I would only make if I were holding my stomach sick, about to throw up. It is not part of the natural vocabulary of English.
