It kinda creeps me out that Luck, Soul, and Inside Out among many others all have an industrial factory as their story backdrop in what has traditional been in the realm of fantasy or imaginary worlds. Like I don't care much for Narnia or wizard school in Harry Potter, but it would be nice for once to disconnect from global capital's influence over our minds. I'm sure the escapism of films like this are lost on the poor souls assembling iPhones in china or working in Amazon fulfillment centers in the US. Yes, the people in these factories are performing modern day 'miracles' with their same-day shipping, and computers in the palm of our hands...but it just seems like an overused trope now which needs to be overshadowed by wise elders or a beautiful and sacred animal or mystical mountain or magical waterfall performing miracles instead, especially while such environmentalism should be instilled in our youth instead of...working in a factory to produce good and bad luck...and climate change. But hey, that's just me.
