This set isn't getting enough love... Galaxy Explorer was universally praised but I'm surprised at how polarizing this set is. I think it's wonderful and appreciate your enthusiasm for it... it's palpable!

Correction: This does NOT connect with the GWP Blacktron Ship. If you have the tiniest bit of building prowess it is possible to modify either set for inter swapping.

The modularity of this looks well-thought out, especially if you get two copies or start coming up with new modules of your own.

I also like the dropping system of the little rover. It invokes the Spyrius Saucer Centurion, which was my own childhood big spaceship set.

I may be overinterpreting here, but IMHO the design of the ship, especially the frame ("truss" in ISS terminology) goes way beyond the aesthetics and routine of 1980s LEGO space. The use of scaffolding, the octagonal profile of the more bulky areas together with the alternation of thick and clean structures where stability is crucial and more deilcate and greebled parts where technology is located, reminds me very much of industrial, even military design. It´s something that MOCers love to do with spaceships that are designed for purpose not for elegant looks. The fact that Jae Won Lee was able to bring that aesthetic in without departing too much from the original design is amazing.

Now I want this more. I'm a fan of pins over clips but the modular system is an impressive achievement. Great review!

Man, your spirit is really contagious. Normally you need 2 sets to make alternative docking modules. The satellite part next to the shuttle cabin becomes a powerful fusion laser or a small extra intermediate piece to clamp the two mini gliders to the side between the satellite configuration as an alignment aid. Instead of a vehicle, you can use a long-distance transmitter or a cargo box on the same scale. everything just depends on the dimensions. I would convert the outer wing elements of the frame construction to Vtol style using a grid joint etc.

i think the configuration with all the components mounted "backwards" looks really nice.
i will probably use that or maybe mount both engines on the same side to make like one continous jet engine cylinder. definitely getting one of these next year

Appreciate the coverage! Apt comparison to the prior Classic set, feels on par in a lot of ways, though it feels a bit closer to its source material than the heavily built GE does. Love that both have alt builds, and that this one preserves the modules when doing so! Kind of miss the cargo module but it's already got a lot of features so I'll live :)

I plan on buying multiple copies of this set as well!
Not only do I want to make the B Models
But I had this idea I wanna do, the technique they used to so the main structure and pick up the ATV, I wanna create a module that can connect to that as well. I wanna make a more crew quarters section. Have it part of the ship but when its dropped off it can act as a little outpost.

Yeah, I know it’s easy to modify, but he specifically said from instruction they’re compatible straightaway not with modification.

Saw Tiago’s review before yours, he mentioned the cockpit windshield had scratches because it was just thrown in bag with other pieces, was your windshield scratched? Also as Tiago mentions, wish the box art was like classic box art compared to the boring 18+ box art. Loved the intro with the set flying around. I’m really excited for this set and definitely want 2 copies to build the Alienator model. Looking forward to your future Renegade videos!

Also, since it's the same blacktron torsos from the GWP, that means those pieces will come out of pick a brick retirement, and we can army build once more!!!
