In this captivating video, physicist Brian Cox delves into the profound concept of the second law of thermodynamics and its impact on the evolution of the universe. Join him as he unveils the intricate relationship between order, disorder, and the emergence of complexity in our cosmic journey. Discover how stars, planets, galaxies, and even life itself are intricately woven into the fabric of a decaying universe. Prepare to be awe-inspired by the finite yet remarkable existence of our temporary selves in this potentially infinite cosmos. Embark on a thought-provoking exploration that unravels the meaning of our place in the grand tapestry of the universe.

This one of the most beautiful descriptions I have ever heard from a scientist. Thanks Brian

My anxieties reduces when I listen to him explaining who we are...

Everything that he said, he forgot one thing, 42
I always enjoyed watching these videos because I was like something new between him and Neil Degrasse Tyson. My knowledge of the universe has been greatly expanded. I have total respect for these men.

Real good. I listen to Brian often. I wonder what existence of universe is. What we see is vast yet is it. Does it all know its here. Fascinating universe

you demonstrate to me how you make something —anything — out of nothing, and I will believe that the universe has a beginning.

A genius. Tell me where the all the information for all this civilization, animals and humans come from? Where did the information come from?

Universe and life is ultimate truth. Humans become advanced and manipulated the things.

So is the big bang analogous to a bomb going off in a large room and expanding, or there is nothing beyond the fringes of the matter/energy until it does expand.

It's a presumption, really, that the universe was more ordered in the beginning. Since we don't really even have a model to describe the moment of the universe's origin, no one can say with certainty whether there was order or disorder. And what if there are different types of disorder? And because complexity emerges from decay, it seems more like the universe and the matter in it oscillates between order and disorder. Entropy, therefore, isn't so much like smashing a glass as dropping stones in a pond, and seeing the interference patterns of the ripples rolling away like they were purposefully going somewhere.

The second law of thermodynamics is also called entropy.

will the laws of nature create life over and over?

i guess my question at this point is: What are the chances of any kind of intelligible order occurring at any point in the finite past by chance alone? That boggles my mind *edit" I love Brian Cox & his passion for science ")

I think what Brian is saying, perhaps a better way to state it is from simplicity to complexity. The universe was ordered in the sense it was in a more stable controlled state, and is becoming increasingly more complex.

Consciousness does not depend on physical manifestation. It creates it

I love how they openly contradict themselves and unwittingly admit they really have no clue, yet at the same time act and talk as if they know everything for a certainty. "while asserting they were wise, they became foolish". Explosions =order=complexity=decay? They have built a universe based on false paradigms and assumptions. The universe and everything in it was created by God, for a purpose. Life is no accident. And the stars and planets aren't going anywhere.

And how did the LAWS of nature come to be?
