In all seriousness, Prince of Egypt is a master piece. Visually, narratively, and especially musically.

Moses: Let my people go!
Ramses: No!
God: I wasn't asking.

Ramses is one of the few villains who I hated to see despair, he had a good heart and genuinely loved his brother but was brought up into lacking empathy for slaves, there was so many times watching that movie where I just wished circumstances were different because Ramses wasn’t an evil person, it’s the system that was passed down from generations that was evil.

Many years after I first saw this movie, a religion professor in college informed me that the Plagues were apparently specifically written in the Bible to counter the power of some of the primary Egyptian gods, which just adds another layer to this song. It's amazingly well done, as is the whole film.

"I send the locusts on the wind, such as the world has never seen; On every leaf, on every stalk, until there's nothing left of GREEN!"
THAT line always gives me goosebumps...

What I think sets the prince of Egypt apart with being a religious story is that they actually tried to make a good quality story while many don’t.

Just a few notes about aspects of this song that I love:

1. The double meaning behind “thus sayith the lord” from the perspective of Moses, he means God. From the perspective of Ramses, he means himself. Which also works as an example of his arrogance in the face of Gods wrath.

2. The absolutely menacing choir in the background, literally quoting God in the Bible as he sends each plague, and each plague corresponding to a different Egyptian god, demonstrating how immensely powerful Yahweh is in comparison (I am aware that in the movie, it clearly implies that the Egyptian gods don’t exist, but if you read the Bible that is a very debatable subject. Exodus seems to imply that the Egyptian gods were simply weaker deities. Modern Christians might as well just call them demons, if that fits into your interpretation),

3. The pain in Moses’s voice as he wishes that he wasn’t chosen for this duty. It makes him much more relatable and human, even if it’s nowhere close to what he was actually like in the Bible. (He was basically a military commander. He literally had a fucking army at his command, and he fought the Egyptians and Canaanite’s in actual wars).

This song is legitimately terrifying and so sad. The two brothers fighting each other is heartbreaking

Now we need "Playing with the Big Boys."

"I send the swarm, I send the horde" might be one of the most metal lines in musical history.

Ancient people never thought in terms of "your God doesn't exist, but mine does", but rather "my God is greater than your god". Which is why each of the plagues is meant to defy and humiliate a specific Egyptian god.

Fun Fact.

Each of the Ten Plagues that was sent was meant to slap the face of an Egyptian deity.

Idk why but this song makes Gods wrath seem so beautiful yet so powerful.
