Extroverted Feeling- yes that happened with me, I had identified with INFJ completely. I think because I’m also naturally highly sensitive, and growing up as a female ISTP didn’t feel socially acceptable. Because of social anxiety and depression, I studied psychology so I could try to understand myself and fix my emotional problems. I have a BA in psychology and worked for ten years as a child care worker with foster teens, so I developed a lot of skills (it was super hard and I started having panic attacks too).

Then I went to nursing school (which I never ever thought I’d want to do, but a coworker encouraged me to), and now I’m a Hospice Nurse and I’m really good at it and I enjoy it. There are times when I don’t feel like I care and/or don’t feel empathy, but I still have cognitive empathy, so I am still able to portray myself as if I do. Of course, I naturally want to make others feel good because that makes me feel good, so it works out.

I read people well, I anticipate their needs, all of what you mentioned. It is definitely not natural for me though, but it brings me joy and feeds my soul to have such an impact on people in need. Also, when friends have emotional troubles, I feel very uncomfortable and secretly wish to leave. My emotions are either completely shut off or on full blast. Fortunately, I have also learned how to sit with them and put them in a box until later when it is more convenient to process or outwardly react.

I enjoy your podcasts. You both have helped me understand myself better. I am grateful.

I've been hooked on the Personality Hacker podcasts, as well as DaveSuperPowers, for quite a bit of time and I was curious if there is any video in the works for "type attraction". Out of all of the channels out there, I've only found yours and DSP that are able to explain things in a manner that makes sense to me. Supporting note: Out of curiosity, I had my 3 friends take the test and two tested as ENTP and one as ENFJ, however, that isn't the type I tested as. So I am interested in learning more about natural type attraction.

You guys usually have very deep insight on MBTI, but here on the inferior functions I feel it's a bit shaky on what exactly the role of the function is. If you're interested, I'd recommend checking out AJ Drenth's articles over at PersonalityJunkie on the topic:
