Re: the ark piece. The traditional story is that Moses wrote the first 5 books of the Hebrew bible in the 15th century BCE, but modern scholarship puts its authorship during the Babylonian exile in the 6th century BCE. It was probably based on earlier oral traditions, but likely from a couple of centuries earlier; there's no evidence pointing to a date anywhere near the traditional storyline. Nor of the exodus itself, nor the conquest of Canaan (at least not as told in the Pentateuch).
