Would be dope for you to keep one XC steed in the shop. GNCC races could be good prep for the moto season!

After my first 2hr race my wrists and hands were crying. haha. I was on a stock suspension Cr250 with an overbored, ported, and milled motor. I immediately had my suspension revalved and got a flywheel weight. I felt like it was trying to kill me the entire time. haha. Also, speaking of berms and tight turns in the woods, a lot of the pro woods guys will actually use trees on tight turns...theyll slide the back tire into a corner and use tree trunks to stop the back tire and shoot off of it. Kind of a scary concept at first. haha. The people and community around these races is unparalleled! Everyone is so friendly and helpful.

Respect. Love it when Motocrosser's race off-road! It is a much more laid back atmosphere and more seat time on killer terrain is a blast👍👍

Off-road is definitely a blast. Did moto for several years then took a break away from it unfortunately, but when I got back into it I got into doing harescrambles. Absolutely loved it. Loved how I was out there for a long period of time instead of the hurry up get to practice, do a couple laps, then sit, then hurry for 1st moto, then sit, etc. also love the unknown for some reason on the first lap. In moto you walk the track. Not on off-road. Definitely learning how to not wear yourself out right away is key. Come up to New Jersey and do some harescrambles and enduros with the lafferty boys. They will give you some good lessons.

I saw the 841 but thought for sure “why would he be here”. Good job, GNCC and in general woods racing is fun.

It's amazing how this could be the video for my ftr experience as a moto guy. Literally word for word man. Multiple crashes on the first lap then none after that once I figured it out. Passing a bunch of guys only to have them pass me back over and over. I finally got a KTM 300XC and trust me when I say this... Ride that bike if you can and it will have you hooked on woods racing. I did mine on a 450 and it was hell in comparison.

Woods racing is the bomb! Get a 300, add the guards and a steering damper will help with the abuse off road feeds back to the hands. I like the Odi pillow lock ons for grips. Get suspension set up for woods, ie soft

Gotta love the GNCC Mud Fleas. Next year you should hit up Snowshoe.

Great story. I totally plan to run a GNCC or three after my broken legs heal!

That’s awesome love watching your content. All off-road racing is a different breed, the riders and fans are more like a fraternity of the sport. I’ve been riding and racing since I was 6 and I cherish my younger days when my parents let me have fun and travel from minis to big bore…it’s a cool race environment. My all time struggle was Big Buck in SC when is was muddy as hell. Being 13 years old on a KX100 jumping a big river gap into muddy roots was something I don’t know how I came out with no injuries every year. Lol
Enjoy the people and culture, it will help you release and get back to just having fun.

Pretty fun stuff. Old man here. Raced my first one a week ago. Smashed a tree and killed my chest cam go pro... had to pick it up and put it in the backpack... passed by my entire group:(.
Fell no less than half a dozen more times. Definitely gonna take some getting used to.

Awesome vid man. Keep up the grind.

I found switching from Renthal Twinwalls to a Fat bar with no cross bar is a lot easier on the hands for tree roots and rocks. Moto valving would not have helped. Good to mix it up and have some fun to keep things fresh.

J-walk woods racing on a 2 stroke?! XC gear Maco 360 clamps, suspension, 18 inch rear tire, oversize tank and the 250 will be sick.

I have an extra SXF 350 if you want to give the Florida harescrambles another shot!

If you’re wanting to set up the 250 SX for woods, look into XCGear for pegs, clamps and about anything off-road. Also, for the hands, try a different compound grip to lesson the damage you do to them during a race. Hope this helps you in anyway.

When I first started racing HS, GNCC, etc. I noticed my moto skills especially in rutty turns and through rough were much better. You learn a lot in the woods or in the desert.
