Cossacks in Berlin is a Soviet WW2 Victory Song. This song was born on a significant day - May 9, 1945. Poet and war correspondent Tsezar Solodar on the night of May 8-9 attended a historic event - the signing by Hitler's Field Marshal Keitel of the act of unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany. In the morning, he drove along the destroyed streets of Berlin to the airfield and on the way he witnessed the episode that formed the basis of the song.
