Oh yes, once seen around some years back…but now securely incarcerated into the world’s greatest DJ and Soul collections.. with no sign of parole..
I was just thinking, how well this winner would neatly feature into my occasional DJ sets, then ironically the very next day, it was confirmed by an inspired “drop” from the jeweled Record-box of Soul Essence pioneer Bob Cosby.
My fears were confirmed, as it rang across the “Rare-Room” of the “Sketchly Grange” charity all-dayer, leaving me wishing I’d kept it for myself..another Manship blooper, which will leave me now searching for another “clean” copy.
Check out why Bob was pointing his finger at the turntable as he cued up this Kansas City winner. Offering two impressive rare-soul grooves on one disc as K.C’s excitingly unpredictable Soul Man, injects his being into Ellis Taylor’s session.
We think Bob Cosby will be leading a “revival” of this elusive 45, and i’ll be with him, if i can get my hands on another! Loud in that small room, I sat, not for the first time moping in lost-vinyl-regret..
Unusually, this Killer K.C. double sider, is in just squeaky-clean “Sketchly” condition!
A recording that Ellis Taylor and team, surely believed in; as they also recorded the K.C. Soul Empress Marva Whitney two releases later, incoporating the same snarling backing track…
