After a somewhat disappointing 2022, it’s amazing how far forward Sony San Diego has pushed MLB The Show 23. It seems like every element has received attention, whether its the improved scouting in Diamond Dynasty, updates to match the current MLB rulebook, or a vastly more helpful practice mode. This remains a gorgeous showcase for baseball, with some of the most lifelike sights and sounds to behold in a sports game. It remains to be seen if Sets and Seasons will frustrate in the long run, but the crowning achievement this year is the Negro Leagues mode. This playable piece of baseball history is a triumph, presented with care, grace, and attention to detail. It’s courageous and bold, like the pioneers it highlights, and it’s astonishing to experience something so affecting from a baseball game. If for nothing else, that alone makes MLB The Show 23 a must-play.

My only major complaint is that WBC content is only available in Diamond Dynasty. Would’ve loved a WBC mode the ability to use the teams in exhibition mode

I’ve purchased this game since PS3. Now we are in the PS5 gen and you’re using the same game engine still!! Look at the new PGA game SDS!! We need something that actually looks NEXT-GEN!!!

This years game lit my little baseball fire. Not so popular here in Germany, yet so interesting. Also released right before the baseball season, smart choice.

Love The Show but just a great example why there shouldn't be any exclusivity when it comes to sports games. We need that competition and choice of options. No way Madden would ever be what it's been for the past decade if VC or any other company was able to make an NFL sim game

Would be amazing if MLB The Show could include the World Baseball Classic as an tournament option.

Similar to how the FIFA game has the World Cup tournament option.

To say the graphics are beautiful is not accurate. It’s dated, the player/uniform models are definitely dated. Game is back no doubt but there is still the same tearing on the uniform undershirts, same 2d old backgrounds. Time to upgrade
