Even Hackers Couldn't Crush Faker

Faker is used to pressure - but this was different: hackers were putting the entire LCK at risk.

T1 was dealing with repeated DDoS attacks tartgeting the best League of Legends player in the world, and things got so bad, the team couldn't even practice.

And yet, Faker and his squad rallied and made it all the way to the LCK grand finals, to face a long-time rival, Gen.G.

Could T1 pull through - or was this split already lost?

Faker once said, "I think this guy is using third-party program, he will be good practice opponent"

Only retirement can force Faker out of the top of the league. Seriously, i think he's just waiting for some mid laner who can glue the T1 team together like he always does and he'll be able to retire and support the team backstage as its part-owner.

U know ur a god at a game, when hackers can't stop you

Was this when they were forced to use new hidden accounts because their main is perma-DDOS'd?

As a LCK watcher, I agree that hackers couldn't crush Faker, but they could threat the future of League of Legends. Professional players such as Faker, their practice may be able to be protected. But what about other 'ordinary' players? Non professional high class rankers like streamers who can become sparring partners of pro players in their solo rank, rookies who need practice or chance to prove their competentness will face problems and eventually become reluctant to play solo ranks, which will undermine the quality of solo rank and passion of youngsters who will lead the future of the scene

I find it interesting that riot a billon dollar company has no counter measures to this similar to cloudflare i mean they should know all the data streams that occur on the networks for the game and twitch stream and just be able to drop other unneeded packets from game server to isolate the game from these attcks given that can still overload the server but this would be a start

It wasnt only DDOS attacks on the streamers but also on players. During High-school LOL Games, in the quarter finals I was in. We lost but only because our support and adc, with our mid lane had a sudden spike on ping, ranging from ping. This was on Ethernet connection and my ping stayed the same with only 20/ms on the teams computer. But ultimately the last 3 months Ive had this issue at home play on my main. Just a Master 4, my ping in game would be 40/ms to 6999/ms. I have some screenshots of the ping going that crazy high.

I really hate hackers trying to destroy Faker's career. This time, they will be punished !

there is many discussion of which team is the best, the goat. But you can't argue with there is only 1 player who have been called the goat in league, that man is Faker! A name that even people who don't play league know, legend never dies, faker never dies.

As someone who only watches LCK games, I was curious about this DDoS incident, so I looked into it myself and the following is what I found out.

I remember Rekkles also mentioning that the issue has been affecting T1 academy too in the Caedrel interview. Hope this can be resolved soon enough for everyone. It’s more fun when everyone is at their full level and get proper practice.

Most competitive athlete or sports person will know this. Even a few days without training will throw you off your game so much. I once have to play in a comp after a week without training due to exams, and I wasn’t able to find my foot in the matches it’s actually super frustrating

Why can't Riot just move their League tournaments to LAN? It's honestly just dumb how a multi million dollar game company holds tournaments online when they literally have Valorant in LAN.

for the record, i see some of the comments here and comparing t1's situation to gen g's is really not ok lol. you could kinda say that gen g were the 2nd most affected team by ddos solo queue wise in the lck, sure, but they still played a large majority of their games on their mains unscathed (they all played over 50 games to t1's only 4 games *combined* played in a span of 3 months pre-msi) and could scrim largely or completely normally through the entirety of this situation, while t1 have only managed to attempt a couple of games on their main accounts, had to switch multiple smurf accounts given by riot, but with bad mmr that didn't help them practice well for pro stage at all, *and* their whole building got shut down on many instances, affecting all of t1, t1 academy, t1 rookies and even the t1 valorant team who have nothing to do with lol. drx rascal has mentioned that when they got t1 members in a solo queue game or scrim, the entire drx building got shut down too. deft also told keria in chat that when he specifically got a t1 member or two in a solo queue game, he knew they wouldn't be able to play it. saying t1 got by far the most affected is not fan cope, it's the truth. they were the only team forced to stop streams entirely. gen g streamed the entire time. it's not a good comparison. when faker had to say that t1 couldn't practice like the other teams, you know he meant it.

After all this, his hand injury, and the fact that they just released a 500 dollar skin, this may be the last year with Faker
