September 12th, 1952, two brothers, Edward and Freddie May and their friends, all residents of the small town of Flatwoods, are playing on the lawn of the Flatwoods Elementary School just before dusk. Suddenly, a bright light streaks across the sky and appears to crash into a hillside on Fisher’s farm. The boys can’t believe their eyes, then proceed to run towards the crash, to see what it was they saw in the sky. According to their accounts, what happens next is extraordinary. Hosted by Mike Droberg. The Forgotten History Channel is a 10th Legion Pictures Production.

I don’t think there’s any chance that I would confuse a barn owl with a 10 foot monster either, but regardless of whether I would or not, three separate groups of people all described essentially the same thing in the same general area within a two-day timeframe and, as you noted, the same “mistake” has not been made since. To me, that’s pretty convincing.

The symptoms suffered after encountering the "monster" are also the same as if receiving a large dose of radiation.

I remember when your channel seemed as if it was just beginning, and you've grown a lot since then.
History is a wide birth to draw from, and I'm glad to see the success of this channel brother.
You do a great job making it interesting.

Man this story started with so much common sense it's mind-blowing.
Kids see something crazy they decide to go check it out first they tell their mother mother doesn't say go have fun and be careful she gets a shotgun gets the neighbor who's a soldier and goes with them

There was an UFO incident back in 1976 in Iran during which two F4 phantoms lost communication as they approached an unknown object, some people say it was Soviet mischief in Iranian air defence zone (Iran at the time was a part of western bloc), others believe it was an actual alien encounter, it would be great if you make a video about that incident.

Great honest video. I'm subscribing. I have always been a believer in what the folks all said. An owl ? What an incredible story. They said the same thing about the Mothman.

Quite fascinating story I'd not heard before. Although a confirmed sceptic, I agree that this doesn't sound like any barn owl I've
ever come across - or any other type of owl. Neither does this strange creature resemble any other UFO jockey I've ever read about in appearance. So I'm keeping an open mind, as well as wondering why Mrs May or her neighbour didn't use that rifle.

I’m glad I wasn’t there … whatever it was. Also, I’ve never seen a barn-owl anything like that tall or description, including smell. A barn owl woulld leave to escape any trauma like that. Amazing.

This incident in West Virginia predates the most famous incident also in W.V. the mothman sitings in 1967, interestingly enough. There are so many reports like this all over the USA in recent history that it's hard to say that these phenomena never happened or that the people who witnessed these phenomena were mistaken about what they saw.
I think that this was the plan of the US Gov. and military, to publicly ridicule the people who reported these incredible things, insinuating that these witnesses were mistaken, were stupid or drunk or whatever, to discourage anyone from reporting anything like this in the future. But the US Gov. and military knew that these witnesses were telling the truth.

Before my grandfather died, he related some really strange stories of things he saw up in the mountains. He lived on Bradshaw mountain, near Jolo, WV. He had a story of something he could not identify which he said looked like a cross between a child and mountain lion..
Walked on two legs but not much over 3 feet tall with sharp claws.

I would have marked this down as folklore except that he had several incredible tales... One of which being that he was hit by lightning twice in two weeks! My father corroborated this story, later showing me the tree that was partially killed when the lightning entered the ground after hitting my Pawpaw and then traveled across the roots of an oak tree and went back up the side of the tree, blowing the side of the tree off!

This was all in addition to being a lifelong member of a pentecostal snake handling church.

I did get to go to his church one time as a child. That was enough for me. He was bitten many times by rattlesnakes and other poisonous snakes but always refused hospitalization. The snake handling churches of Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia would make for an interesting video if you run out of things to research. They're are some truly amazing stories related to the people who attend those churches.

Gotta do an episode on Travis Walton, the story based on Fire in The Sky.

I don't know why but I remain skeptical. I think there should be remains of such a crash. Cool story though Mike.

I believe there are situations where your mind plays tricks on you and there are instances where your mind simply doesn’t understand what you’re looking at but knows its real. It may appear the same when you describe it to others or feel the same shortly after experiencing it, but I feel like most people are able to discern between the two when recalling the memory some time later. Ive definitely experienced both, and it feels the same shortly afterwards but when you recall how you were feeling before the incidents, when your mind plays tricks on you, you feel different beforehand like curious or adventurously observing. But when its real, beforehand you are just carrying on like any other day, not to particularly aware of your surroundings, and then you just get hit with it. Also, when it was real and not my brain playing tricks, I wanted to get away from it, although I wasn’t scared like when it was my brain playing tricks, I just felt like I wasn’t safe if I stayed where I was at.

What I find interesting is that Owls are mentioned at all when there’s a study about a connection between abductions and people who believe what they saw was some form of owl.

And something else is that I too saw something, literally no idea what it was but scared the living bejesus out of me. Back in around 2000, I was walking my dog late at night. Now I live in Wayne County and not really a lot goes on. While I was walking my dog, I noticed far off a bright orange light moving North/Northwest from around Cabwaylingo towards Echo. It was moving slow and steady but honestly I figured it for a plane. Suddenly it broke into several parts that swirled wildly and then reformed, continued on for a few seconds and then disappeared. I’ve never been so terrified in my life. I literally outran my dog back up the hill to the house. Still no idea to this day what it was. Never seen anything since. I’m not the type to just scream out, Aliens, Aliens! But at the same time, I’d really love to know what the crap it was.
