Patient-Centered Pathology Reporting for Cancer Care
Показать описание
A new cancer diagnosis is a daunting event. The diagnostic pathology report often directs decision-making for cancer. Yet pathology reports are not constructed with the patient as a stakeholder. This is all-the-more important in 2021 given legislation granting patients immediate access to their health information including pathology reports. Patient-centered pathology reporting could help patients better understand their new cancer diagnosis and exhibit greater engagement in shared decision-making.
After viewing this lecture, participants should be able to:
1. Understand barriers to patients understanding their diagnostic pathology.
2. Identify benefits of patient-centered versions of pathology reports.
3. Characterize barriers of routine implementation of patient-centered pathology reporting in cancer care.
