"Heretics, all of whom are children of the devil and who clearly bear the sign of God's reprobation, have a horror of the Hail Mary. They still say the Our Father, but never the Hail Mary; they would rather carry a poisonous snake about them than a rosary." - St. Louis De Montfort, Secret of the Rosary, Seventeenth Rose.

Pray for the health of a girl who was stabbed in the stomach by her father. It is not known whether he will live to the end of the week because he is at constant risk of internal organ failure.

You should make content answering Mormonism on the great apostasy and the Book of Mormon. Or their theology. Trent Horn just had a pretty interesting debate with a Mormon on the Book of Mormon. I felt like while he failed to prove that it’s inspired by God, sometimes Trent seemed to be standing on shaky ground. Would love an answer/ commentary on that debate. Also, I’m currently converting to Catholicism from the LDS church, starting RCIA next week. Thanks for the great content.

So true.
It still happens today.
I've literally talked to people saying St Augustine believed in Sola scriptura;
And their source was James White. Not primary sources.

It's a trap everyone (even Catholics) can fall into unfortunately.

Luther and the other reformers upheld Mary’s perpetual virginity. They explicitly stated it in the smalcald articles.

The Blessed Virgin's perpetual virginity is mentioned in passing in the Lutheran Confessions in such a nonchalant way, it is obvious the authors of those writings also held this dogma

I like this video format. Much easier to follow. Thank you.

Attacks on the virginity of the Mother of God are one of the five blasphemies against the Immaculate Heart of Mary in expiation for which she requested the first Saturdays.

3:09 James White saying “No One even batted an Eyebrow..”

I don’t think that’s what the phrase is james 😂
Sorry, this isn’t meant to be a disproof, just was funny.

Deal with Gavin Ortlund, if you haven't. Would love to see you both talk on this. My issues:

1) the lack of teaching on Mary's role in the economy of salvation in the early church
2) the absence of Mary in the early assumption lists [you didn't address this from Ortlund]
3) the understandable development of Mary's perpetual virginity in a typological analog to the Church, not grammatically from the texts on Jesus's siblings (brothers/siblings being the most natural reading of the text)
4) "true brothers" as blood relations seems to make an assumption that rests on a presupposition that's not solved by plausibility alone.

"Can αδελφοί refer to cousins?" on Biblical Stack Exchange is great for diving into the language more.

I have a theory about why so many Catholic apologists take up the project of refuting fundamentalists like James White on fundamentalist terms. The general approach of Catholic evangelism has been to show "Anything your religion can do our religion can do better". American Christians, especially Protestants, are natural fundamentalists, and White is among the purest representatives of Protestant fundamentalism. Therefore, the goal of Catholic apologists is to show that we are better fundamentalists than the very best of fundamentalist Protestants, in order to win sheep from the American Protestant flock and retain sheep from the American Catholic flock

At 10:25 the comment is made that Chapter XXIII of on the flesh of Christ has nothing to do with the perpetual virginity of Mary….that’s interesting considering Tertullian says in that chapter concerning Mary that:

“Indeed she ought rather be called not a virgin than a virgin, ”

It seems pretty explicit that however you want to hash out Tertullian’s thinking, that there is some way in which he didn’t believe Mary was perpetually a virgin.
