I actually had that theory since my first week of playing star rail and reading the aeon descriptions. Akavili's story ends with him suddenly disappearing one day, and I think that's when he got trapped in Teyvat. And since star rail is about following the path of Akavili and Genshin is about the twins escaping Teyvat, I believe that the stories are going to meet in the end and have a shared grand finale.

On a side note, there is also a mention early in the game, after the attack on the herta space station, about the anti matter legion employing rift hounds in their attacks. Rift hounds are not a thing we've seen in Star Rail yet, but the ones from Genshin sure look like they could be from the anti matter legion. Not to mention the Abyss Lectors. Make of that what you will.

If i remember correctly, right before the release of Genshin, they made a post on the Honkai Impact page. A person with the initials K.K. (no actual reveal who it is even now) was talking to the siblings giving them their farewell and sending them off on their journey.

Genshin in Chinese means Origin God. It’s a prequel to Honkai and it’s about how Aether/Lumine ascended to godhood, or Aeonhood which is above being an Archon.

The problem with the theory of them waiting for the express is that they are in different bubble universes the express doesn’t leave its bubble universe it travels the worlds within it. I do personally believe that either teyvat is similar to jirilo-6 in that they are cut off from communications from the rest of the worlds in their universe and the twins travel similarly to the express or they have a special ability to travel between bubble universes if that’s not the case

unironically i can see a world where this all does actually come together considering the direction of the story genshin going through, with the traveler being implied to being led by paimon into becoming a god or entering godhood in some way, and with the confusing distance between the twins and the weird attitude between the two when they used to be so close could end up having one of them killed and the other becoming Akivili
There's def a few connection possibilities to make out of it all that isn't completely farfetched

I mean if we are talking about crossover theories. I'd much rather believe that Genshin is part of a simulated universe of Honkai. There are all these rumors about the descenders and the sky being false and forbidden knowledge. It would much more sense if Teyvat was a simulation(pixelated boxes), and it'll be much easier to manage the lore.

I really hope Genshin eventually get to finish its main story line. I wouldn't mind it at all if Genshin eventually get folded into the Honkai universe.
