To be honest, $0.13 is great for a short. Especially since some shorts are easy to make, and you can repost some of them after some time.

To everyone trying to get monetized, once you get there, it’s not actually too impressive, or a good feeling to get monetized, here’s my story.

For me it was that I wasted 1000-2000 hours a little over a year, and now I gained 100$ of Youtube revenue in 2 months. I don’t have motivation to gain more, this is not my thing, but the wasted time just makes me go nuts. Yay. I could be studying for an mba (In my country pretty much guaranteed 6000-12000€ income monthly) etc. And this, this is why you should also consider if this is the best use of your time. The trap of stats (views, subs), is so difficult to distinguish.

Of course, if you like to make videos do it! But, it’s really easy to fall in the trap of ”liking video making”, when in reality the only reason you like it is the subs and views you get, at least, this is my experience.

Got monetized last week after 4years and my rpm on shorts is 0.02 and long videos 0.09 the struggle is real

The reason why its like this is because the average ratio of views. You are more likely to get way more views on shorts rather than long form content, this is because of the average human attention span. People rather watch short content because its way easier to process the info because shorts are mainly around 10-30 seconds, while long form content can last 4 minutes minimum. “Thats a huge difference if we talking about the human attention span” if youtube actually paid $5 every 1k short views, youtube would most likely be loosing more money rather than making money.
