Kioni marina Greece

Показать описание
The village and harbor of Kioni lies on the northeast coast of the island of Ithaca in the Ionian Sea of Greece, four miles north of the main harbor of the island of Vathi. Marina (Port) Kioni is very popular with visiting yachts and fleets, and its pier is often packed to capacity by the middle of the day during the season. The village itself is very picturesque, hidden at the foot of a deep valley and partly protected from the east winds by a rocky headland dotted with ruined windmills. Harbor cover is good in prevailing westerly/northwesterly winds, but unsuitable in strong easterly winds, in which case the boat is better off heading for Wathy.
There are no dangers on the approach to Marina Kioni. The entrance can be identified from the sea by three ruined windmills on a promontory in the southern part of the bay. With an afternoon sea breeze, there can sometimes be strong gusts of wind at the entrance to the bay. The pier for yachts is located in the upper part of the bay, behind a short breakwater. Depths at the entrance are 10 - 12 meters, and along the embankment from 2 to 5 meters.
Port of Kioni has 2 berths. The main marina is located along the north side of Kioni pier. The yacht marina could accommodate 20-25 yachts at anchor.
The other berth allows 6-8 yachts to moor astern or bow to the shallow waterfront on the west side of the marina and is the only option for late arrivals.
The depths are too shallow to get close (less than a meter), so yachts need to anchor.
In stable weather, you can anchor with a line ashore in any of the small bays on the south coast of the bay. The depth in the bays is from 6 to 10 meters, the anchor keeps well in the sand and algae.
Restaurants in the area are open all year round. Taste delicious seafood dishes at Piccolo Coffee, Mills, Calypso and Mythos Taverna. The Yacht Club is the most famous tourist attraction in the area and offers the opportunity to book excursions to nearby islands. If you're looking for accommodation, this wonderful area offers quality hotels, as well as cabins and apartment buildings right on the harbour.
