When I was 8 or 9, Mr Burrows was my teacher, at Bargoed South boys school. This gentleman was quite possibly one of the best teachers I have ever known. He not only taught us academic subjects; but also made sure we enjoyed various sports at least once or twice a week. On one afternoon a week, he would have my class meet with another and we would enjoy learning songs and having stories read to us. He also managed to get us to enjoy singing as a boys choir . We would occasionally perform for local officials, under his direction. Mr Burrows was also a capable and enthusiastic rugby player. I miss seeing such men as him in today's world
