As an engineer in the system, it’s called “we gotta keep overspending or they won’t give us that much next year, if we can do it for less than they’ll give us less”

That's the distinction between a private institution free of bureaucracy and a public one filled with opportunists. This is exactly why the government should not own anything!

That's the difference between spending your own money and spending the money of someone else.
Spending your own money versus the government spending the taxpayers money.

This is why we are extremely over taxed, everthing the government is involved in, costs the tax payers FAR more than it should!

Leadership matters. If people at the top are connected to politicians, they will ruin everything they lay their eyes on

All those crying about ISRO LVM3's cost per launch is around Rs 500 crore or 60 million US dollars and remember it can carry upto 10 ton to LEO meanwhile Falcon 9 cost per launch is around 70 million US dollars but it can carry upto 22 ton to difference

It’s called government yet we still think they can run health care and retirement better than the private sector.

This is a testament of NASA research and development. The government lays the path with technology and knowledge by funding. Contractors take that knowledge or tech and run with it. It's been like that for almost everything.

The BIG problem here is that the private sector will always look for the money and it's always the BIG money. ALOT of science projects would be slaughtered if it won't generate any money. Private investors won't be interested in let's say "let's find the truth behind black holes". The investors will ask "how much money can we generate from this discovery"? The scientists will answer "Not that much, but it may answer alot of scientific questions". That the opposite of what investors wanna hear which means no more money. Science projects is VERY expensive, especially when it can't generate money. Restricting science that won't generate any money is VERY VERY bad for our society!

You guys (people of US) should be proud of NASA. The entire program is one the greatest achievements in the history of mankind! Love from 🇸🇪
