In this video I chat with my friend Eli Ayala of Revealed Apologetics. We chat about Greg Bahnsen vs. Gordon Stein, what was so great about Bahnsen, and the presuppositional approach. Is it the only legit method of apologetics? And don't miss the SICKEST, MOST ACCURATE impersonation you've ever heard direct from Eli's mouth! Check it out :)

Love that you all did another video together. As I commented on Eli’s video a couple months back, you guys should make this a recurring thing a la the Sweater Vest Dialogues between James White and Doug Wilson.

For anyone looking for real on-the-street presuppositional interactions, the Apologia Studios guys have a lot of good content.

I've listened to that Bahnsen / Stein debate many times and Bahnsen just does an excellent job trimming off the fat and dealing strictly with the meat of the debate topic. Love it every time I listen to it for keeping myself sharp apologetically.

Hi Nate, thanks for going into this area more; it's great getting your perspective on Bahnsen's apologetics system from a debate methodology point of view. A request: I would love to see an analysis of the James White - Bart Ehrman debate from a number of years ago, if you get the chance.

This is great. Been waiting for you to discuss the Presuppositional approach. I'm huge fan of Van Til and thought Eli did a great job of representing the approach.

Great overview and interaction Nate and Eli. I think this video will help many apologetic seekers see the value of Presuppositionalism. Bahnsen viewed classical apologetics as having value, but should only be used within the worldview in which they would be understood as being true, since as Eli noted, there are no brute facts. Cool video gang.

Sala & Ayala, sounds like a great team of minds to help show the innate objective evidence of truth for God, i recommend this be a regular discussion, the name alone sounds catchy! God bless WD, Eli & reader!

It's not desire first it's curiosity. 😮 That's the first step.

Has anyone here come to faith through presuppositional apologetics? Just curious.

Is it possible to coherently hold Presup and Calvinism? I think I found an inconsistency that makes me want to answer that question with a “no”. At 1:00:00, Eli gives about a one-minute outline of why he thinks the Presup methodology is superior to that of what sounds most like Classical/Philosophical Apologetics according to Nate’s question. In that outline, Eli says the latter method is inferior because it allows for neutrality and autonomy of the unbeliever, which he says is inconsistent with the Bible when it says that nonbelievers know that God exists but suppress the Truth in unrighteousness. (29:45) So with lines like the one at 34:30, Eli seems to negate autonomy per Calvinism, but with lines like at the one at 44:40, Eli seems to affirm autonomy per Presup. Maybe I just need Eli to define what he means by autonomy, but on the face of it, Presup and Calvinism seem incompatible.
