when u plan any trip on your own and not go via tours like kesari, veena u save a lot of money, u can explore anyhow u want, u get to know the place better, u can go to spots where many tourists dont go which are like hidden gems there u can be actually treated like guests by locals. I remember last time i went to Mahabaleshwar i was exploring hidden gems, once such hidden gem is Manghar which is few kms away from mahabaleshwar, Its a village based on honey plantation where they produce honey, I would highly recommend that place because u will get to know about honey production, the village is also scenic beauty located in mountains very peaceful because not many people go there, villagers are very sweet they offered us lunch at there home. such places such locations u cant even think of doing when u go via these stupid tours, a lot of time is spend on stupid things like lunch which i usually skip because i do heavy breakfast.
