Why did the clones love Anakin Skywalker so much?

The clones' betrayal of the Jedi came as a surprise to almost all of the Jedi Order, even though it probably shouldn't have. Anti-Jedi sentiment among the clones was pretty common, largely due to the Jedi's poor leadership at the start of the war and because of madmen like Pong Krell. However, some Jedi were hugely popular with the clones under their command. Plo Koon's Wolfpack loved him so much that they even painted an image labelled Po's Bros on their gunship. Anakin Skywalker was also loved by his men, for the same reason the Wolfpack loved Plo Koon. Anakin saw his men as human, not just as military units that were expendable. The clones of the 501st came to regard him as another one of their brothers, a Jedi who was unafraid to put himself in danger for the sake of the mission or simply to save clone lives.

Another reason the clones like Anakin so much is that even though he enjoyed making and performing his own crazy plans, he often listened to Rex and other clones’ plans, suggestions, and and criticism, even changing his plan to go with what the clones thought was smart.

*Fun fact:* A few years after the Battle of Yavin, Vader was rescued from a battle against the Rebels by a Clone pilot named "Contrail", who fought under Anakin's leadership during the Battle of Kaliida Nebula 25 years before. Soon after, that clone got badly injured and Vader comforted him by saying he was a good pilot, with the clone telling him in his last moments he was a good pilot just because he had a good mentor

the worst part is that the requirements for the clones to like you is:

-treat them as humans

Love the fact that even as Darth Vader, his military leadership continued to be based on mutual respect between him and his stormtroopers even though they were replaced with regular recruits over time.

If I remember there's an episode in Clone Wars animated where they talk about this. Anakin has always felt like an "outsider" especially when he was doing his Padawan trading. Thus when he got teamed up with the clone trooper that also felt as "outsiders" so he had a group where he felt he belonged.

The Clone Wars show makes his fall even more tragic. Despite his psychological issues (which the Jedi themselves exacerbated), he really was a good man. A brilliant, charismatic, and caring leader.

Anakin and PLO were also loved by the clones because they cared about the clones and saw them as humans not expendable machines, they also listened and strategize with the clones opinions and ideas for a plan not to mention that they weren’t willing to put their men in risk that they weren’t willing to take themselves which made the clones see them as close friends or even a brother

If anyone wants to know how MUCH the average clone hated the Jedi, read the book Order 66. It has quotes at the beginning of each chapter, and one that stuck with me was:

"I hesitated for a moment when I received Order Sixty-six—because the last thing I expected was a Jedi coup. Did I feel betrayed? You bet I did. I thought of all my men who’d died under Ki-Adi-Mundi’s command, and if I’d known then that he and his buddies were gearing up to do the Separatists’ work for them and overthrow the government, I’d have shot him as a traitor a lot earlier. He betrayed the trust of every one of us."

—Clone Commander Bacara, formerly of the Galactic Marines"

Edit: Changed the quote to what it actually was.

It probably also helped that anakin was able to relate to the clones position because of his days as a slave

Sure the the clones loved anakin, sure the Wolfpack painted plo koon on their ships, but Ashokas group full on branded themselves with her face markings, that’s a true show of admiration

Anakin was so close with the Clones that he even told Rex about Padme and became sort of his Wingman 😂

"Plo's Bro's" that is what a true friendship looks like

Also one of my favorite of Anakin's quotes was when he said"I would never send a clone to do anything I won't do."

Clone: We're just clones, sir. We're meant to be expensable.

Plo: Not to me
