Alfred Hitchcock…..The King of plot twists! His films inspire me to make my own films. Something so few directors do today…..

I knew most of these, but Waltzes from Vienna is one of my blind spots. Thanks for the link.

And speaking of the pianist in Rear Window, my favorite fact about him is that he is played by Ross Bagdasarian, before he invented Alvin and the Chipmunks.

For once the title of this video was accurate. Usually these “10 things you didn’t know” videos are pretty trite repetitions of facts that are known to people who are interested in films, ie the people most likely to watch this. But this one went a bit deeper, and I learned some new things about Hitchcock. Thanks.

There’s not a month that goes by where I haven’t rewatched a Hitchcock film! I make video essays and I am so excited to make one for Hitchcock — one of my all-time favorite filmmakers.

My favorite fact about Hitchcock is after seeing Mel Brooks' parody of his work, High Anxiety, (which I think he gave Brooks permission to do) Hitchcock was so impressed he sent Brooks a case of champagne!

Psycho remains one of my favorite Horror movies. The suspense is there through out the whole movie.

I'm with you re: Dial M for Murder. The casting of Ray Milland and Grace Kelly was perfect. And that big finger on the phone - loved it! Knowing the lengths that Hitch went to for that makes me respect his artistry. I had the pleasure of seeing the film in 3D at the Castro Theater in San Francisco many years ago.

Didnt know about a lot of those facts and some of the movies. I loved his Alfred Hitchcock Presents series. I didnt see all of it, but a lot of them and in the 90s, they used to air the remade color version.

I wonder if that quote from Disney was something of a PR thing because immediately after Psycho's release there was a bit a smear campaign by critics calling Psycho "obscene"- even though many of those same critics changed their tune by the end of the year and put it on their Top 10 lists. Either Disney's "outrage" was all an act for his squeaky clean public image or they buried the hatchet pretty quickly because Disney famously loaned out their proprietary state of the art optical compositing system to Hitchcock for his next film, The Birds.

Alfred Hitchcock's largest payday came from the film Psycho. He deferred his salary in exchange for 60% of the movie's profits. This resulted in an estimated $15 million payday, which adjusted for inflation is around $120 million today.

This is one fact no one knows…
Alfred Hitchcock was born in Leytonstone, East London and lived on Leytonstone Highroad. Five minutes from where my mum lived.
Leytonstone Highroad Underground station (London Transport), features murals of scenes from all(?) of his films (created by the Greenwich Mural Workshop).
