AJH Synth MiniMod - VCO

Here's the oscillator from the AJH Synth MiniMod voice which is truly one of the best synths I've heard (modular or otherwise). Not something I take to saying lightly as I'm not one to announce something big like that but really it's awesome!

I've tried to demo how the raw character of the oscillators are while showing how these go much further than the Minimoog Model D that the circuits are modelling.

I'll have videos of every module in the MiniMod series as well as system overviews looking at the voice as a whole.

I agree, these AJH modules are fantastic. I bought one of the silver VCOs modules as soon as I could find AJH stuff in the US and was immediately impressed, but then held off on the rest until I could get the black/dark edition. So the rest of my AJH Synth Mini Mod "Minimoog" modules are all black.

got me the first AJH VCO&VCF and they sound Amazeballs! sweet PWM drift tone, soothing moogyness of all the modules i´ve tested and heard so far in the sane price ranges, THIS is the mother of value for money. it has the beef & the grit and if you are like me coming from a string instrument that has to be tuned everytime you start to play, you ll get used to the 10-20 minutes until you can patch with tuning stability. brings all sorts of other modules to sing, that just won´t quite get there when fed with weaker, digital OSCs. warps, FM, zeroThrough, all gets a whole different resonance when feed with the minimod VCO. vactrols start screaming, warps starts singning... the force is strong with this one... need 3 more.. and i still wonder, why they dropped the price of the filter so hard..

Hey DivKid, you're content is very helpful, educational and just fun to watch. I was thinking of getting into this minimod system, do you think 2xVCOs and the filter would get me a lot of the sound, if I use my existing envelopes and VCAs

I had assumed there wouldn't be much difference in sound between analogue VCOs, but this just sounds fat. Perhaps I've just bought into the hype?! Trying to pick a new VCO which must have a square wave output (with PWM obv), an octave switch and sync (preferably hard _and_ soft). The new Doepfer 'high end' VCO fits the bill, this one has hard sync and 'weird sync' and a huge sound. I guess the list of modules that precisely fit the bill is not exactly long.

just got my first vco. fat! wondering how it sounds compared to the SE boomstar oscillation modul, which sounds massive in the demo videos too. would be great to hear a comparison, esp since the SE's dont seem to get the same amount of press (granted they've had their hands busy of course ;) )

Hi - I'm wondering how you'd compare these to the Behringer Model D oscillators? I'm debating a start to the Eurorack world and whilst my first lust is the Synthtech E352, a Moog-type oscillator is second on the list, however the price of one of these isn't far off the cost of the Boog D. Sounds great! Have you tried the Spectrum? I wonder how it sounds compared to this would this? Need a new saw core with sync for bass duty. Obviously can't go wrong with a model D clone, but the Spectrum is quite a bit cheaper, has all the features, and seems to be well praised by many... wonder if it has as much juice as a model d core?
