1940s Capehart N2 Amplifier Restoration (Part I)

Part I of my restoration of a Capehart N2 amplifier. These units were used by Capehart in consoles with the "N2" suffix, such as the 112N2 and the 114N2. The consoles date from the late 1940s (post-WWII) and were some of the last "true" Capehart consoles before the introduction of LPs reduced demand for record changers.

I purchased this unit off Ebay as a standalone -- it was not harvested from a console. Due to the rust and water damage, I suspect it was kept in a barn or shed for a few decades.

Major accuracy issue: Brook had NOTHING to do with Capehart products of the era. This whole deception started about 5-8 years ago on eBay when some seller decided since Brook amplifiers were selling for so much, and Capehart amplifiers had 2A3s, they must have been made by Brook. Huh? Unfortunately, lots of folks fall for this BS and get ripped off. There is absolutely no information anywhere showing Capehart amplifiers were made by Brook. Nowhere. Period. That all being said, these Capehart amplifiers are really well designed with excellent parts and construction.
