I think the best way to count lot of similar part is to use a jewelry or kitchen scale. Just count, say, 20 of them manually and then weigh the whole bunch and do the math. Turn out to be quite precise!

Holy cow - you guys are crazy counting all the washers and nuts! In the beginning of the build I ordered probably 100 or so extra washers of each size and a ton of extra 1032 nuts - you’ll need them.

One other alternative to inventorying those small parts that you have large numbers of, like washers, rivets, nuts, etc. is to have an accurate scale and weigh, like 10 pieces of whatever item it is. record the weight and then put all of that item on the scale and divide the total weight by your initial measurement (and then multiply by the number of pieces in your initial group) to figure out how many you have. Perhaps not as perfectly accurate as counting each one, but if you have a very accurate scale of appropriate size, it can actually be very accurate. And it is way faster than counting each one.

Nice! I bet ABF treated that crate as if it contained the priceless sarcophagus of King Tut! Did the delivery drivers (I'm sure there were several) don white cotton gloves to unload it?

I know that Van's requires all inventory shortages to be reported within 'X' numbers of days, but I forgot how many days that was.

Fantastic video. Glad you guys got it all sorted out.

I may see an inventory error though (I wouldn’t have caught it but they did the same thing in my kit and ours were probably packaged on the same day since we received them only 1 day apart originally).
At 9:26 in your video you show a large rivet and it is from bag 1313. According to the inventory that should be a 4-16 rivet. Mine were like a size 5 or 6 rivet. Much larger than a size 4. From the video yours looks like the same thing happened. You will use those early on in the first section so I didn’t want you to be stuck with the wrong thing early on.

Wow! Well packed. Van's efforts look extensive. Very impressive! I guess that's why there are almost 1, 000 RV-10's flying and who knows how many being built. Is there any real competition for the RV-10? Sling TSI? Lancair Mako? Velocity XL? Hmm. Thanks so much. You have a fun channel.
