Under the Government of India Act 1935, Article 10 granted the Governor-General the authority to remove the Prime Minister. However, after the adoption of the 1973 Constitution of Pakistan, such a provision did not exist. It was during Zia ul Haq's tenure that the Eighth Amendment was introduced, incorporating Article 58(2)(B), empowering the President to dissolve the National Assembly.
