with Pam Weeks and Alice Beasley, with special guests The Pixeladies

Join us for a special Textile Talk in conjunction with the exhibition Deeds Not Words: Celebrating 100 Years of Women’s Suffrage. Organized by Sandra Sider (Curator, Texas Quilt Museum) and Pamela Weeks (Curator, New England Quilt Museum), Deeds Not Words features 28 award-winning textile artists from across the United States whose works commemorate the one-hundredth anniversary of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, granting women the right to vote. Join co-curator Pam Weeks as she explores the complicated history of the movement and the fight for winning the vote, followed by a discussion with Deeds Not Words participating artist Alice Beasley. The event will be moderated by Deb Cashatt and Kris Sazaki of The Pixeladies, whose work is also featured in the exhibition.

Deeds Not Words: Celebrating 100 Years of Women’s Suffrage will be on view at San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles between October 16 – December 6, 2020. It will also be available online at our website. Please see our Upcoming Exhibitions page for more details.
