❌ CORRECTION
Azul said HR84, It should have been H.R.82 - Social Security Fairness Act. Sorry

💲 NEED FINANCIAL ADVICE? 💲
1) Google "fee-only financial adviser" or visit www.NAPFA.org (largest association of fee-only financial advisers). NOT an affiliate link
2) The first question to ask any financial adviser is, "Are you a fiduciary to me 100% of the time". Get the answer in writing
3) Please note that some people call themselves "fee-based". This is NOT the same as fee-only. Fee-only advisers have committed to being fiduciary to you 100% of the time.
4) Personally, I would only hire an adviser who is a fiduciary to me 100% of the time. This is not a suggestion on what you should do. Just sharing my personal preference.

⚠️ Azul's "Scammer" Warning ➡ PLEASE READ! ⚠️
Be careful of scammers. In the comments section, I will NEVER ask you to contact me, offer any investment products, recommend a stock broker, or anything similar. Some scam bot commenters 'ask' for investment help, and later, other comment bots reply with "how great X idea/investment/person is" in the replies. These are scam threads. Do not fall for them.

🚨 Azul's VIDEOS ARE NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE (Disclaimer) 🚨

The decisions on how to invest, when to retire, and other financial planning topics are some of the most important financial decisions you will make in your life. I urge you to seek professional financial advice as you make this decision. Ideally, from a financial adviser, AND a CPA AND an attorney. Having the perspective of all three professions will help you make the right decision for you and your family.

This information is being presented without consideration of the investment objectives, risk tolerance, or financial circumstances of any specific investor and may NOT be suitable for all investors.

This information is NOT intended to, and should NOT, form a primary basis for any investment decision that you may make. Always consult your own legal, tax, and/or investment advisor before making any investment/tax/estate/financial planning considerations or decisions.

Spoiler Alert: There are no "get rich" programs. Rather, just basic blocking & tackling and putting in time and care. Do your homework, choose wisely and (IMHO) work with experienced professionals who are fiduciary to you 100% of the time.

We experienced the peak of our era, and now it is gone. Recession is tanking everything including 401K. My retirement equities portfolio of $750K is in the reds. I keep losing because of inflation. This world will fall to the corrupt rulers in the same way that Rome did. I'm sorry if you're thinking about retiring and you're worried that your pension won't be enough to meet the rising cost of living. Horrible foreign policies everywhere, bad regulatory policy, bad fiscal policy, and bad energy policy.

As usual, this action nets my wife and I NOTHING. Now retired, we are going to get taxed up to 85% on our SS benefits as we need to begin withdrawals from our IRAs.

Taxation of SS benefits is THEFT, plain and simple. AND, the tax tables that were put in place way back in 1983 have NEVER been adjusted for inflation. We've been TAXED for SS since we started working in 1974, and now we'll be taxed on our benefits. It's UNCONSCIONABLE!

My wife served in the USAF 🇺🇸 for four years, then worked in the private sector for 16 years. She got her Masters in Education and worked as an elementary school teacher for 20 years. Now she is retired and gets a pension but only a fraction of her social security. This will get her the full social security she earned.

The bill is HR 82. It is not a raise like many believe, it is based on how much money we put into Social Security and the years worked. I’m a retired LPN that worked in our states Charity Hospital System for 20+ years. I didn’t pay social security because it was mandated by our state retirement system. My starting pay was $6/hr and my ending pay was a little over $12/hr. My pension is based on that alone, no 401k or other savings. My pension is not large as so many others. Custodial and Cafeteria pay was even less. I worked for a private Healthcare system for over 10 years and paid FICA taxes like everyone else. However the amount of social security is cut by 50% due to WEP. With the passage of this bill, I will get around 65% which is a couple hundred dollars. Social security is also based on the years worked, the year you turn 62 and the age you actually retire. A lot goes into the calculation and I had to research it a lot to understand. Not everyone will get 90% of what they put into the system. It can be very confusing.

I understand certain aspects of the WEP/GPO, but other parts were inherently unfair. I worked a second job for many years and paid into SS all those years but the WEP would have cut my benefit by over 50%. I’m thankful for this change.

I was a teacher, but started late (45 yo) and didn't stay in one state (ex made more money, so we moved to where he had a job first). Had to stop due to health reasons at 58. I don't have a pension because I didn't have enough in any state system to collect more than $30/month, so I moved it all into my IRA and am doing my own investing. So far, so good. My SS is only $457/month. I worked always for non-profits, low, low wages, did the "right thing" instead of going for gold. I wonder if this will make a difference in my benefit? Even if it covered the rising cost of Medicare B and my supplement, I'd be thrilled. Latest COLA and increases are a negative for me. Thanks for the update.

Rather new to the whole SS/retirement world. I only know my husband’s SS benefits were cut in half due to W. E. P. I suppose any increase would be nice at this phase of our lives when we can really see the benefit of a little more money. One thing for sure, we’re not holding our breath!! Thank you Azul, love your channel!❤️

I believe that under the GPO a retired Federal Employee under the CSRS retirement system may now receive up 1/2 of their spouses monthly retirement annuity whether his or her spouse is alive or deceased

I never thought I’d live to see it! Finally, a bit of good news as I head towards retirement! If we paid in and earned it, we shouldn’t be penalized & lose as much as half!

So this only affects people who had a government pension?

The 2.5% COLA for 2025 provides a modest increase in benefits for Americans receiving Social Security and SSI payments, helping to offset the rising cost of living and inflation. This increase offers essential financial relief for vulnerable populations like retirees.

I've had one job not separate jobs for the last 35 years, and I pay into both a state pension and Social Security. I have not made a ton of money working for the state. I am middle class, and I deserve get what I paid into Social Security not half of what I would if didn't have pension.
