Over the years you have usually been spot on with your assessments of Bodies and Lenses. This is the first time, I am afraid I have to disagree with you.

20 FPS in full Raw is good, may not be class leading, but pretty good. Not sure how much real world difference it will make to birding and wildlife photographers

The functionality of the flip screen makes up for sealing issues, if any. Olympus used to be able to weatherproof their pro range 4/3rds with articulating screens, I am sure Nikon will do a good job. Perhaps an ESD shield and a shrink wrap dissipative film or something like that for better sealing.

The writing is on the wall. Nikon are serious and the ZxIII or Z8, when it comes, ought to be a true D850 upgrade.

Honestly mate, you have a lot of valid criticisms, but now you come across as bitter and negative. You may wish to work on your delivery a bit.

I still have a lot of respect for your opinions. You have proved that you know a bit when it comes gear.

Wow, quite the rant, you must feel a little embarrassed now that the Z9 has become such a success. I am not a Nikon fanboy, but even Jared Polin, who has been quite critical of the Z cameras, has been quite positive with his hands on reviews of the Z9 and DP Review, after their hands on review, made the Z9 it’s product of the year for 2021. In fact, in general, the Z9 has been received very positively in the industry. Hopefully in the future you will actually use a camera before making such erroneous and obvious biased pronouncements and avoid such an embarrassment later.

Being partisan to Fujifilm is all well and good but this just comes across as bitterness, negativity and sour grapes when you haven’t tested or even handled the camera yourself!

Perhaps when I get mine in December, I’ll check what it’s like using my XQD cards first and upgrade to Prograde Cobalt or Delkin Black CF Express cards (or the fastest card available then) if needed.

Corrosion due to a flip-out screen and/or inadequate weather-sealing gasket (over time) around the flex cable supplying the screen doesn’t affect me for my usage. That is, Nikon’s weather sealing has never been an issue for my usage. Neither does compatibility with multi-variable flash lighting.

My advice to you Ken and for everyone else is to buy the gear that suits your budget, needs and wants.

IMHO, the saying is, “each to their own!” and someone else’s experience can never be considered your own.

You can't sink any lower than where you are now.

The buddy needs a brain examination. Using slow cards on a pre production body with firmware that is yet to be final is somehow a point against Nikon. A person who can't even use the autofocus properly on a flagship when nobody in two dozen reviews has made any complaints about autofocus. A DSLR dinosaur who does not try to learn the Z9. Ken is angry after buying slow as sloth GFX cameras, while Nikon is crushing competition at lower price 😄😁😁

I think you tubers have been making us obsess over equipment instead of enjoying this hobby or business. I mean I consider myself still a noob but my skills haven't exceeded any of my past cameras at the time I owned it. I remember the d70 which was my first dslr, and now I have the d850 and z6 which I really enjoy shooting both. I don't really care about the latest and greatest since covid, guess I just want to go back and enjoy taking pics and life. Now if I can talk my s.o. into being ok with the focal Kanta 3, I will be very happy indeed!

Nikon Z9 is a hell of a camera, a marvel of video-photographic gear. Best camera ever made. It’s like flying with a private jet when the others flight first class. And that 24-120 f4…price perfect. I own Z6 plus 4 Z lenses, but for travel photography I stick Fuji. But you said that Nikon will fail, but it hasn’t happened yet. Try to send them an email to remind them, maybe they’ll listen to you.

Ordered the Z9 on release day, got it 6 months later! I regret it highly.. and kicking myself, should have ordered 2! Now I have to wait for the next body. Anyway, I'm glad I have one Z9 with me... Lol..

Well lets state the obvious.
You claimed that Nikon will go bankrupt and they will never release Nikon Z9. You have no inside informations about Nikon. I highly doubt you knew anything about the Z9, which was about to come. You did not test the camera yourself, so at best you red everything from its specs (weight, framerate, no mechanical shutter, the overall design etc).
You rly think, that camera which is able to acquire 8k/30 footage has problems with buffer. Then you also stated, that the camera is heavy. Well, R3 weighs about the same and A1 with battery grip is even 100g heavier (which is negligible ofc). Yes, R3 takes 30 fps but only in 25MP resolution. A1 acquires 30 fps but only lossy, which to me is a marketing gimmick.
Ken we all know you are biassed. Despite all that, I rly like your old Fuji and Nikon lens reviews.

According to Ricci who has had the camera for 3 months. The Z9 does NOT have a low pass filter. Literally everthing youve said in this video is wrong. I strongly suspect your "source" is just the DPReview video that got the same things wrong.
