3x World Champ Mick Fanning and Creatures Brand & Product Director Beau Campi discuss both the problem and FUTURE of surfboard traction.

Re-inventing traction through Moulded Technology, PROTO™1.4 provides the world-first multi-directional grip pattern, MULTI-LOC™, to lock your foot in place. A PRO-FORM arch gives cushioned support, and a RECOIL kick gives extra spring through critical manoeuvres. In our aim to make a product that is BUILT better, moulded technology has allowed us to dramatically reduce our manufacturing waste.

3 years testing & development with Mick Fanning and Italo Ferreira.

Glue Feet! Can you guys show that video of when you took a 3D image of Mick Fannings foot and did a dynamic simulation of the pressure points when he's doing a rail grab cutback.

does the pad not cut your knees? i tried one and it was so bad i had to remove it i would have rub burns and bleed. i don't know if it was just the specific one i was using or if that's how they all work.

Step in the right direction, but the original exposed sanded finish is way grippier than the molded surface. The molded surface has closed (melted) cells instead of more open cells. Maybe a blend of the two would work, like a quick sand somehow at the end of the process.
Surfing is plagued by unnatural, unsustainable toxic materials at every turn (haha), until they come up with flax wetsuits and mushroom foam blanks glued together with kale resin we are all guilty AF. Any drop in the ocean is something at least.

What will be the difference in performance from regular traction pads?

Hand shape a board from foam and tell us how much waste is created

Yet the hand shape is good and the pop out is bad in the case of boards

😂

What will be the difference in price? +/_ 60 less materials wasted, will this be reflected in the price?
Molding stuff isn't cheap to set up , but neither is having to set up cnc machines, but running costs should be cheaper and a higher production rate with less operator costs. Pads shouldn't cost more than 25€ at retail taking into account what it actually is.

What about the front foot. Wax is waste too. And a PITA.

The waste in 1 MF Reef sandal nullify's any traction waste saving. But anything helps I guess.
