When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity's resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)—who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind's last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

I love how nearing the end Charlie Hunnam's just all smiles cause I bet literally everyone thinks Ashida Mana's the cutest little girl ever! She's really talented too it's amazing!

Agreed. I loved this movie so much, and this movie deserves to be very successful. The film cost around $180 million to make, and so far it's made about $178 million worldwide. It still hasn't even opened in Japan or China yet. There is still hope for this film to make some more money. I hope one day to see a sequel. Even if it doesn't, thank you Guillermo. Thank you for helping me feel like a kid again.

When i saw this film, i go back to be a kid again.. I can't stop to talk about the monsters, the scenes, the characters, the robots, the emotion with all the people to cross me... Even i bought the toys!!

It breaks my heart this movie isn't getting much out there as I expected. I'm very happy to have even seen this kind of film in my lifetime and by watching these BTS vids make you appreciate how much they put into this film especially in Guillermo's vision.

This scene was perfect. It was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. I cried in this scene, not only for the situation in which the girl was going, but everything involving this scene - effects, sound, story. I repeat, perfect!

Easily one of the best scenes in the film if not THE best. She does AMAZING in this scene, and you REALLY feel it as she is walking alone. Wish there were more scenes like this one in the movie, but oh well. Still loved it and saw it multiple times....but this scene just gives you CHILLS.

God that's amazing…The whole film was by far the absolute best the last couple of years, but this scene was so intense and powerful and this makes me relive what I felt in the cinema ^^ Amazing sets, amazing actors, amazing director, it's awesome.

I'm not gonna lie, I cried during this scene. It's the very striking image of an innocent little girl crying among the devastation and destruction that just made me tear up. It is a very powerful image.

Completely agree, this is one of those movie you really need to see on a big screen just to get that scope. I'm happy to say that I managed to convince some family to see it in theaters this Sat. They almost never go to one.

How did I not know Mana Ashida was in this movie? She's amazing in everything she does. I would recommend to everyone checking out the dramas she's been in, especially "Mother", "Marumo no Okite", and "Beautiful Rain" (my personal favorites)!
